Watched "Brady 6" on NFL Network the other night. It was about the 6 QBs taken before Brady. It is almost disheartening to know we selected QB-Tee Martin in the 3rd round over Tom Brady. Don't get me wrong I'm glad we have Ben, but knowing Brady would have been in our midst during the Kordell era? Wow, what could have been.

I mean, think about it. Tommy Maddox passed Tee Martin on the depth chart. Would he have passed Brady?

I agree. Sadly, he was more accurate than Kordell, even on the run Tee Martin was accurate. I remember they said his problem was he couldn't control the huddle and actually caused confusion because he mixed up the plays and assignments.

Passing on Marino was a bigger F up.

At least Tom flew under everyones radar....multiple times.

I don't think Brady would have developed the way he is now under our coaching staff....We have not been good at developing quarterbacks...especially back then.

I think that it is true that quarterbacks don't develop in a vacuum. He obviously had the potential to be a great QB, whether that potential would have been realized here (or anywhere but NE) is impossible to say. Makes you wonder how many "great" QBs never got the chance.

Agreed. I just don't know if Brady would have been anything worth talking about on our team. We're also not quick to let back ups play. Bill Belichek is a genius and knows how to develop players.

If drafted by us in the 6th round he would have been released in training camp, so really no damage done.

Wow, I know there is alot of hate for Brady around here but there is no denying he is an amazing QB, the guy was good the moment he hit the field when Bledsoe went down. It's not like he had years of development and a learning curve, he hit the ground running. We still had a line in 2000, Dawson, Faneca, Gandy, Smith, he would have done great here. The Big Ben era never would have happened had we drafted Brady.

Not hating, I just don't know you can say for sure he would even have gotten a chance anywhere else or if he would have been as good out of the chute in another system or for another coach.

He definitely would have gotten a chance here, we didn't have a QB yet and why wouldn't he be as good? Do you think Peyton would only be successful on the Colts? Brady is one of the best QB to ever play the game, period.

I not trying to say he didn't turn out to be great. I'm just not sure it have turned out that way if things had been different. I'm sure he is good enough he would have come to the top in a lot of organizations (maybe even here) I just don't know you can say he was destined to be a great QB no matter what happened.

Tom Brady wouldn't be very good anywhere else. He's a byproduct of a system and a coach who knows that the first step in winning anything is an offensive line. I would arge that the Pats' o-line, since 2001, no matter the pieces, no matter who plays, is the best pass blocking line I have ever seen. Tom Brady's a terrific QB, but give mediocre QBs time in the pocket and they'll beat you. Give good ones time in the pocket and they'll look like Pro Bowlers. Give great QBs time in the pocket, and they'll break every record in the book.

Whaaaaat? Top 10 QB all time, probably top 5 but don't feel like thinking about it. Would have been great on any good team.

Ah well. Coach Walt Kiesling cut Unitas because he thought he was too dumb to be an NFL Q.B.

Brady is a system quarterback. see matt cassell. Brady would be a joke if he had our line. manning is the only self intelligent qb out there.

We had a great line in 2000 and would have had a very good team around him, probably would have won a SB before 2005

I don't see how, with Cowher as coach and our great running game. Sometimes I wish we'd go back to the "3 yards and a cloud of dust" offense. :yeehaw:
