If you'll read my response, I did not say that you think that Gilbert will be cut. I quoted you verbatim and asked if you really thought that Gilbert "may be cut".

Why do I feel like I'm Ken Starr and Clinton is sitting on the stand debating what the meaning of the word "is" is??

    OK.

No I think he starts at left tackle. Like Snack said I think he is a better pass blocker, and the left is better for him. Adams is a better run blocker and he will be better at right.

I think the better o-line question is if nobody is drafted does Foster or Beachum start at left guard?

However it pans out, I believe this is a pivotal year for Gilbert as I said in my original post. The third year seems to be the year that many players either step it up a notch and prove they're ready for prime time, or they continue to wallow in mediocrity. I hope for the Steelers' sake it's the former for Gilbert.

I read something a few days ago that seemed to think Beachum could be starter material. Tomlin really seems to like him.

    Personally, I don't see Beachum at G.

You can rub my nose in it if I'm wrong come September. :smiley1:

I also think Gilbert should be on the left and Adams on the right.

I agree with a lot of people here.

Cam will be fine...and has played well when it gets the chance. More playing time and we will see just how good he can be.

Gilbert...not really worried about him...as others have said probably the better LT at this point...but who knows Adams could surprise.

Worilds...again not 100% worried either...when he's played recently he's shown he has improved...and this is finally his chance to show it with Harrison gone.

Hood...Sometimes he does seem to disappear...but in reality 3-4 DE's do that...last half of last year he really came on it seems.

Overall there can be sooo many things that play into whether a player is or can be good or not. Their team mates, the plays called, things that happen on the field, etc. Not all DEs will be like Aaron...so its really unfair to compare any to him. Plus when people look to where a player was drafted...based on society or whatever today...they expect all 1st rounders to be awesome/etc...but again round should not matter...yes logic says the higher you are selected the better you're supposed to be...but you can't let that cloud your judgement and such. Plus in reality both Hood and Cam were taken right at the end of round one...they're almost a round 2 pick.

In the end I think they all will be fine.

In terms of Ziggy...maybe him playing next to an over-the-hill Casey hurt him some...If he was next to a more disruptive Mclendon his game improves.

I still think Adams is a LT and Gilbert is the RT, and if Beachum does become the RT... why not have Gilbert fight it out at LG?

Must be a typo. I'm sure he meant to say Gilbert will be cute. Probably looking ahead to losing all that weight on Dancing with the Stars. Can't say I disagree. He's got the bone structure of a young Denzel.

I think this is a very legitimate question, I think the jury is still out
on all the players in question. All the reports I have read is that the Steelers
did not want to part ways with JH,meaning not much confidence in Worilds.
The Steelers coaching staff STUNT the growth of all there young players,
hence ART II comment of a couple years back saying he would like to see
players proceeding forward at faster pace. Gilbert is a DUD,( Footwork) All others have
a chance but it is time to put up or shut up. Just a quick question again, why wasn't Troy, Woodley
Kiesel asked to take a pay cut?

I read that Woodley did restructure but I never seen anyone post that here so it must have flown under the radar or maybe I just missed it.

I thought for sure Keisel would have been asked to take a paycut....due to his age and slooow start to the season.

I think they just value his leadership in the locker room too much right now...

Yea he shown he has some left in the tank, and he is one of the few vocal leaders we have on the defense. Plus he is UFA next season I believe so I think they pay out his remaining year and next year he could possibly fade off into the distance

I'm not concerned with Ziggy's sack numbers as it isn't what he is supposed to do but he doesn't do anything. For those who defend his play, can you please tell me why is it when a team starts running really well they always seem to run at him with a lot of success? He rarely, if ever, gets double teamed yet he still doesn't help the LB get free by at least getting penetration, it always seems like he is in a dance with the guy he has to beat. The games which he did look to have good which was only 1 that I saw was against the Eagles and they have a worse oline situation than we do. Heyward I think will be ok when he sees the field on a regular basis but Ziggy is done, I don't know if it is heart or technique but whatever it is sure isn't good because he is mediocre at best. I still hold out hope that Ziggy is used as trade bait to move up in the draft or to aquire someone but it looks as if he will play out his contract and be gone if he plays like he has from the beginning.

I have no problem with his run defense, and I don't know where all the talk about him getting constantly pushed around by one guy is coming from. What I don't like is his pass rush, and what I don't like about it seems to be something correctable: he often looks like he's not trying his hardest to rush the passer. He hangs back like he's preparing to jump to knock the ball down, or disengage to chase the receiver downfield, or waiting around to prevent a screen. While he is actually good at defending screens, it's not worth it by a mile. The few times he really goes balls-out to get to the QB, he does well. I'm not sure if this is a personal problem or if he's being told to be like this, but they need to get on him and tell him to just forget about everything and get the quarterback. I thought that change was going to happen last year, but it didn't. We all know he's very strong and pretty nimble for his size. He just needs to use it.

Do you think DL and Mike Tomlin our responsible for this?

Throw Mitchell's name in there too. I have no idea who our responsible. I'm not letting Ziggy off the hook, but I'm positive it's not all Ziggy. I'm sure a lot of that is coaching. They don't want him to just go all out without first taking care of other stuff, like being in the right lane, taking the right blocker, etc. It looks like he's concentrating too much on that stuff, though, and not enough on himself. Like he's being TOO selfless, to the point where he's not being very useful. Everyone says he's the strongest guy on the team, and he's pretty athletic too, and he's flashed good pass rush skills in the NFL, and it's what he was known for in college. I think they need to find a better balance. They need to tell him the leash is off; just go for it. And he needs to listen to that.

As i have stated for YEARS Dick Lebeau/Mike Tomlin Ok if you want to throw John mitchell's
name into it thats OK by me,Stunt the growth of their ballplayers. You must have more production
from Ziggy Hood/Cam Heyward, 2 number 1 picks. I hate guys that have to think first mentality,
I prefer instinctive players, and I think these 3 coaches above kill this in players. Quite frankly I am tired of it.
Like Cowher use to tell Lloyd, get the QB. Good things will happen when you have constant pressure on the QB.

The thing that concerns me about Hood is that teams all year were purposely running to his side, and for decent gains...it would be the first play the other team would run in a game. There is something on tape they knew they could exploit.

    Why was that?
