yeah I was upset... for like 2 minutes. Even with all the potential we had at offense you just know something was bound to go wrong. Health, playcalling, etc. Lets get some depth and keep building the D. Defense is what this team needs, along with what he have on O being healthy.

Weddle or not, here we come :D

In a strange way it might work out for the best . I hate that it happened ,but there is only 1 Football. We will have Bell back and he is a great pass catching RB and needs at least 5 looks a game .Our new TE is a huge mismatch and he needs at least 5 looks a game. Coates showed big play ability and his size/speed combo commands at least 5 looks a game. And then you have the man AB who needs like 10 looks a game at least. That's 25 balls at least right there. Now add in Wheaton,James,DHB, and Williams who is also good out of the backfield and Ben has plenty of targets.

I think it will actually make a stronger unit as guys roles can be more clearly defined .

You've got a point. I have faith that we'll work it out that the Y wide receiver spot will work itself out to being just as productive. If' Im Coates, I'm out there right now getting my routes down.

I felt the same way until I read Fittipaldo's article this morning, and made me 2nd guess myself:

"Bryant has been worth more than a touchdown per game to the Steelers over the past two seasons. The Steelers scored, on average, 6.4 points per game more when Bryant has been in the lineup, posting a prolific 28.6 points per game with him and only 22.2 without him.

The Steelers have scored 30 points or more 14 times over the past two seasons. Bryant played in 11 of those games. His big-play ability was a driving force behind much of the offense’s success since he came on board as the team’s fourth-round draft choice in 2014.

The Steelers looked lost on offense for much of the first six games of Bryant’s rookie season. In Weeks 5 and 6, the Steelers struggled to score against Jacksonville and barely eked out a 17-9 victory. The following week, they were embarrassed in a 31-10 loss in Cleveland.

Bryant made his NFL debut the next week against Houston. He scored a touchdown and the Steelers won, 30-23.

Bryant scored two touchdowns in each of the next two games against Indianapolis and Baltimore and the Steelers scored 94 points in blowout wins against the Colts and Ravens."

It would've been nice to get Weddle, but I sure as hell am glad we didn't pay him what Baltimore did!

    Interesting stats.

I still think we'll be ok without him - not as good as we would be with him, but still ok. While the stats are telling, there are other factors to consider - for example, there were games last year where Ben just went for AB whatever. Taking out a weapon may ensure that the ball is spread about more, which will be playing to our team strengths (even if we've lost some individual strengths). Kind of what @PWP@PWP was saying, I guess.

We will know halfway in the season how much of an impact he is. Not wetting the bed yet
