Some X and O's behind it, for sure. Those key 4th down stops were impressive.

However, some key elements that are not rocket science, that we haven't done against NE:

Play fearless. Throw deep sometimes. Use your versatile RB. Hit the QB (NE stopped scoring when they got pressure on Brady), hit him again.

Let the players and coaches worry about beating the browns.

We can discuss other stuff, however.

What everybody saw Thursday was a QB playing for his NFL future..... Alex Smith has always been known as a gam manager, and now he has Pat mahomes breathing down his neck....

At the same time, he's not a bad QB. He's actually pretty decent in all honesty. Plays it a little too safe for my liking a lot of the time, but he's pretty good at what he does and now with some burners we might see some vertical movement (something for the D to consider down the road). I always thought garbage or harbaugh as he's known had him pointing up in San Fran and believe the year the Ravens took em in the bowl had Smith been under center, it would've been a different outcome.

I don't think he's great by any means but he's pretty good especially when he's been surrounded by consistency. Coaches coordinators etc...

Just saw this in an article on Steelers Depot:

Last season, the Steelers gave up the fourth-most yardage receiving to running backs and the third-most touchdowns. They gave up the 11th-most receiving yards to tight ends with the 11th-most touchdowns. They gave up the sixth-fewest yards to wide receivers in the entire league, and the second-fewest touchdowns.

One of the things that happened was Alex Smith taking advantage of the Pats weaknesses like losing Hightower. Smith decided to not throw it outside to an open man but went after the replacement who was only in town for 5 days. Hunt got behind him, Smith hits him and he sprints to the endzone. Go after weaknesses.

The plan has always been there . Take away the quick throws , send pressure up the middle and light up the scoreboard on O .

Hard to execute all of that ,but KC got it done . It really takes all of those to even have a chance to beat the Pats . They will rebound and still win 13 games or more IMO.

Bill and Brady will use this past game as fuel , they will probably decrease the amount they depend on Gronk as well. He just wasn't that beast and might never be again. It won't take all year for Bill to figure that out .

Yes, and yet our outside corners took the brunt of the blame from many fans whenever the pass defense broke down. Our safety and LB play in pass defense (other than Mitchell for the most part) was very spotty, and that was the biggest weakness of our defense. It's still an area of weakness, but will hopefully be a bit better with Wilcox (hopefully) getting the nod over Golden in certain packages and Davis having a year under his belt (though he frankly looked pretty bad in the preseason). I'm also liking Hilton a lot. He's a stick of dynamite in the slot. I really hope he doesn't get overwhelmed now that he has to go up against 1st teamers.

Unfortunately, people tend to get hung up on certain ideas ("our CBs can't cover", "QBs pick zone defense apart") and overlook these other elements.

What BB didnt count on was a rookie back Hunt having a pro day and scorching him with the run and the pass, as well he focused on tyreek hill as one of his take a ways, only problem was he didnt have anyone to match hills speed, yeah he took kelce out of the game but he couldnt stop the two players that gashed him the most..........

Actually Andy Reid calls all the plays on offense, he is the one who has had smith dinking and dunking, but he knew going into NE he was going to need big chunk plays to win, now he knows that smith has the arm and acuracy to make big plays I believe that will be part of his offense for the rest of the year......

Gisele. If you take her hostage, you have to remember to be careful and wary of Brazilian women. They're very treacherous.

I couldn't watch it all but from what I saw Chiefs were running a lot of press man. Making Brady throw deep. I've been saying that all along. Plus, Brady is getting older. Make him throw it deep and don't let him dink and dump you. Got to get into a shootout and outscore them.
