68 yards of a QBs 168 yards is meager? Sure 200 plus like Rice would be nice but how is that supposed to happen when a QB has 168 yards period.

Really? I submit that this claim is without any basis whatsoever in fact.

Cite the litany of examples where one receiver got over half a QBs passing yards, and 100 percent of his touchdowns where the QB was MVP?

Again YOU can think Ben deserves MVP but the league giving it to Holmes is absolutely consistent with their history.

I cited examples that you try to diminish. Branch has a better game because he had 11 catches to Holmes 9? Were both better than Swanns FOUR?

Branch had zero touchdowns while Holmes had one of the most epic ones IN HISTORY.

    Yeah....

    Given how the PFHOF needs at least 80% Approval from a Board of 50 Members, I bet $10 that Big Ben reaches the Finalists and loses out. There is a lot of competition coming inbound for 2027 as it stands. That isn't accounting for holdovers either. For the first year eligible, they are as follows;

    Ben Roethlisberger

    Adrian Peterson

    Rob Gronkowski

    Cam Newton

    Antonio Brown

    Richard Sherman

    Eric Weddle

    Andrew Whitworth

    Le’Veon Bell

    Of those that are listed, Bell, Brown, Newton, Weddle and Whitworth will all be left to wait. That leaves us Big Ben, Adrian Peterson, Rob Gronkowski and Richard Sherman. Now, on the surface, Big Ben does look like a lock. However, the holdovers present another issue. Again, here are the holdovers (the most notable ones anyways);

    Eli Manning

    Jason Witten

    Frank Gore

    Willie Anderson

    Torry Hol

    Reggie Wayne

    Jahri Evans

    Darren Woodson

    Terrell Suggs

    Marshal Yanda

    Kevin Williams

Out of the holdovers that could bump Big Ben off, Terrell Suggs would likely be it. Terrell was a Top 3 EDGE during his time in Baltimore. Add in his DPOY and that case for him to be inducted becomes a lot stronger.

Would be pretty epic to hear Ben and Suggs both referencing battling each other in their speeches if they went in together.

People believe I hate on Big Ben. I do not. He is the best QB since Bradshaw and it isn't comically close. The issue though isn't about being the best player since player x.

My issue is that why hasn't there been a rock solid argument to prove that Big Ben was Top Three ever during his time in the NFL. I can confidentially state that the man in my avatar was... and then some. I cannot say the same for Big Ben. Why does being so high among your peers matter?!

A First Ballot HOF must be judged based on how dominant over the course of his career in comparison to his peers. Generally speaking, First Ballot HOFers are usually Top 3 of their era; more often than not. The best example I have is Larry Fitzgerald. His entire career he was widely repudiated as such. 2008 was just the crown jewel of an already First Ballot Level career.

No you are trying to polish a turd and pass it off as something more. 68 yards is 68 yards my guy.

He wasn’t awarded MVP for that, he was awarded the MVP for the work he did on the last drive and most of all, the catch. IMO, Ben still outshined him on that drive.

Im sure he weighed heavily into the decision. Possibly the most iconic play in SB history.

    The pass
    The catch
    The return

    All epic.

You are the one trying to create something from nothing I ever said.

You are the one trying to frame an argument about something I didn't say. Make your own argument, and don't try to imply or create a position for me.

I never said or implied that a wide receiver shouldn't win an MVP. It's something you're making up. Move on.

You miss my point completely. I KNOW you aren't trying to say that or intentionally implying that. But it IS the logical conclusion of your argument favoring Ben over Holmes for the award.

You are not intending to make that point but "I" can use YOUR logic to say Rice and Swann don't deserve it either.

What I am saying is that your argument can apply to any receiver who has no receptions without his QB. Your contention that Holmes did nothing without Ben applies to every receiver.

Allow me to say it in a different way.

I realize you aren't trying to say that no receiver deserves MVP okay.

Make a case for say Swann or Rice as MVP without contradicting your stated case against Holmes.
