I vote for a guy that wasn't even drafted and that's Najee. Barring injuries, the ball is in his court to have a monster season. The line appears to be built to benefit the run and the the addition of Washington just makes this line even better. I hope Najee gets ton of sleep this off-season because he's going to get a load of carries this year. Warren could see an increase in carries as well.

I have to concur that, even accounting for Kenny Pickett, Najee has not just made out like a bandit this draft.. but the whole Off Season. Same goes for Jaylen Warren. Both are big winners overall imo.

For defense, I would say Cameron Heyward. Patrick Peterson could also be a good decision here but the team nabbed a guy in Keeanu Benton to assist Cam in getting some snaps off. Cameron is not getting any younger and will need a suitable student to teach. Keeanu is essentially what Cameron Heyward was when he entered the league.

    Biggest losers?!

    Offense:

    Dan Moore Jr.
    :

Broderick Jones automatically makes Moore a likely Swing Tackle... unless he can beat out Chuks; something I don't see happening.

    Zach Gentry:

Much like Dan but replace Broderick with Darnell Washington.

    Defense:

    Ahkello Witherspoon:

Not a matter of if... but when will he be released?! A shame but he no longer has value for the team currently.

    Losers:

Dotson I thought he would be cut last year but we had no better option

And will keep saying this but I expect Green to stay on the roster over Dotson

    Bush and Edmunds

One of us has a better chance of making the roster over green staying..... He's simply being kept around as a camp body... Green is nothing more than a crash test dummy

To me, it's difficult to say until some sessions take place.
Broderick Jones - I see him as a Left Tackle and I've said how his highlights and physical abilities remind me of a rookie named Trent Williams. Williams struggled a bit the first 2 seasons, even getting suspended for smoking weed with Jordan Reed. I think at that point the lights came on and Williams went on to be probably the best tackle in the league for some time. Jones probably won't go that route but I figure he will have a learning curve, so he might play RT year 1 to get his sea legs maybe. It is something you just don't know till the pads are on and if injuries ramp up. Moore should be the swing OT though.
Note: I do like the penciled in lineup: Jones at LT (Moore is backup), Okorafor RT. That is what I would like to see going into the season.

The Guards look good in LG Seumalo, RG Daniels.
At Center, last season I had some issue with Mason Cole being out of position on plays or whiffing on blocks. I really think he is better than that and I think the upgrades will help him as he won't have to make those split-second decisions when someone is slipping off a block.

Overall, the line looks like it is build to road grade the way for running and Harris' jump cut and bullish runs will be well served.

In the pass game, Kenny Pickett was trusted to throw the ball 50 times in a game... he tossed some picks early on but doesn't seem to make the same mistakes over and over. Still he is a second year guy and ideally you want to run the ball and play solid defense still, yet open the playbook more for him. That's tough to say given he was throwing the ball 50 times but Pittsburgh's pass game was a mixed bag. You always have the TE in the middle, now you have a big blocking TE that oh, by the way, can catch, to enhance the two TE sets.. (Also playing well into the Play-action and run game). A TE is always a QB's best friend.

The WR's are not a bad bunch. They do need to feature Pickens more, that guy is a special guy. The depth is a little 'iffy' but I think they will do this year and next draft you can snag some youth. There's a couple vets in Free Agency you could pick up and some will be cut come summer.

I've struggled with Canada but in all honesty, I can give him some slack for the transitions he's had to endure and work with. That is sacrilege here, but Ben was done, Trubiski wasn't what we thought, and Pickett was a rookie and the oline sucked eggs in the early going. He had some nice designs in the end stretch of 2022. But if they come out flat.... either way, this is a make-or-break season for him.

    The defense.
Defense comes online quicker than the offense. It mostly centers around the philosophy and if they buy into it and form that 'synergy.'
There is a lot of nice pieces on this unit. Coaching will be huge.

You actually feel that Green has more upside then Dotson to be kept? :lolol:

I believe they will hold on to Dotson as a back up or be traded. I was hoping during the draft he would be moved.

They could trade Green for a pressed ham sandwich which would be generous. Camp cut unless they want to hide the mistake on the practice squad.

You get Jones, Washington and Pickens (who is not afraid to block) out on the perimeter blocking, you have to like running behind those 3 previous U. Georgia Players.

Najee and Warren got to be smiling at that.

As someone else said and I completely agree that if the RB’s are the biggest beneficiaries then that directs relates to KFP because the theory is that the QB gets the bump when the running game functions at a high level.

It seems all the pieces are in place. Fingers crossed like an LA gang member over here!

His overall play.... The fact that despite the times that Dotson struggled, green was inactive every game....
    Common sense....
    Pick one

Can’t base it on overall play He never played a snap at guard in the NFL

He was stuck as a rookie at center and of course it did not go well

He was listed equal with Dotson until the games started and Dotson already had a year of experience so of course he started

Greene was honorable mention as guard in college

He has upside Dotson has none

His salary is less than Dotson

    He’s smarter than Dotson

    Now this is common sense

That he hasn't played a snap at guard in the NFL is not a factor in his favor. He wasn't even the backup at center any more last season. I know the starters were very durable last season, but for him not to get a single snap? How many games did he even dress?

With Herbig bring the swing guard, I wouldn't be surprised if both Dotson and Green don't make this team post camp. Guard is a bit of a logjam like CB is. If either of them do, I'd bet that they keep the cheaper option in Green.

I think I’d actually prefer Dotson based solely on the experience at that position. The money might be marginal vs. the on field value.

He should not have been the backup at center he needed to stay at guard

I don’t think anyone else got a snap for example at LT

    We will see in September

I agree. There's no reason to get rid of him unless he's absolutely standing in the way of a better player making the roster. And I don't see that guy as of yet.

He's quality back up and costs nothing. Unless another team has a couple guys go down early, and is desperate for a decent starter, offers maybe a 4th or 5th.

If they keep 9, you got(based on the current roster):
    Moore
    Seumalo
    Cole
    Daniels
    Chuks

I believe that's the starters in the first game. Not saying Jones won't take over at some point in the season but Moore is battle tested. Two year NFL starter. They can bring Jones along slowly. It's fine. Rotate him in. Use him in jumbo as an extra OL. Goal line. No need to feed him to Garrett right away.

    The back ups.
    Jones
    Herbig
    Dotson/possible vet back up C
    Clarke/possible vet signing

    I think that leaves,
    Anderson
    Dunkle
    McCollum
    Downing
fighting it out for the PS.

Pretty sure Anderson will make it by the fact that he was drafted and had a ridiculous 9.37 RAS score.

Green is most likely toast. He already said he didn't like playing Center. Unfortunately for him, that would be his ONLY avenue for making this team. It would still be a very long shot. He couldn't even get a shirt in last years shallow OL pool.

Hell... Najee and Warren have been smiling like they were kids in kindergarten since the beginning of the Offseason; Issac Semaluo being the first of many moves to beef up the trenches.

Trenton Scott got 31 snaps at offensive tackle. He and Hassenaur ere the only backups to get any snaps on the offensive line in 2022, which is really remarkable. They were at least on the active roster for games during the 2022 season. I don't think Green even got a hat all of 2022. He is that bad.

(I'm not sure if he was inactive for all 17 games or not. ProFootballReference has him listed as playing in zero games. It has Jesse Davis listed at playing in 14 despite not getting any snaps in them. Perhaps he participated on special teams. I can't seem to find a list of all of the inactive lists for the season. The ones I checked, about half of them, Green was inactive.)

I didn't see Green even in special teams, but I could be wrong.
