If Ben gets hurt it’s over. Let’s hope the old ass can keep his ass from getting injured again.

If they get the bye, I see exactly this.

    Hey steelersrule6.

I hope all is well with you and your loved ones.

Yes, I agree they will not sign either one. However, talent wise, Winston would never enter my mind where as with Cam, I would feel more comfortable in him leading our team on the field. Also, I know it may not be fair to hold it over his head but I still do not trust Winston in regards to his off the field behaviors from college. Probably unjustly, I am really not letting go of his college antics but I do think that he has been okay once he got into the NFL. From what I can remember he has not had any issues once he turned Pro. I realize people can say the same about Ben and he did turn it around and stay the steady since all of his nonsense. However, once again form a purely playing ability stance it would be Cam.

On a whole other issue, I admit I do not know what the cost would be for either as well. Either way it is a definite "No" for Winston.

Ben is our only hope and, regardless of the money he has coming, to go any other direction and throw away the money he is guaranteed as well as a shot to win #7 is crazy.

When Ben is done for good, we need to assess what has to be done to get another elite QB......no more projects like we did between Bradshaw and Ben.

Hey STEELWINDS, I hope you and yours are well! I have never liked anything about Newton. His body language, his pouting, his tantrums, his cowardice, he is simply not a leader and despite his athletic ability, a QB needs all the things he clearly doesn't have. I wouldn't want him for $0.

Come on Stone. Tell us how you really feel about Cam. lol. You are right though with the Superbowl on the line he backed away from a fumble laying at his feet like it was a live grenade. He let his team down in a championship game just to avoid getting hurt. No thanks to a guy like that.

When he has a good game he is Superman, when he has a bad game he puts a towel over his head and sits by himself like a disgruntled 6th grader, when he has a good game he shows up for his presser wearing idiotic "look at me" clothes, when he has a bad game he stomps off the podium like a disgruntled 6th grader. I might be into something.....I think his brain is that of a disgruntled 6th grader.:hmm::this!:

    Hey Stone.

Yes, I agree Newton is not that ideal either. I was posting from the standpoint that if I had to choose one or the other. Yes, he is "whiny" and typical of some of today's athletes, they are "civil" when things are going good. As soon as a little animosity hits or things are not going their way, then their true self comes out. I agree Newton is a "pouter" in that regards. You may have seen it from me several times here, I want Dalton. I like him from the standpoints that:

    • He is a proven winner.
    • He has good career statistics
    • He knows the division.
    • Overall, he seems to be a good teammate.
    • I think he would like to play for the Steelers after years with the Bengals. It would be refreshing for him to play for a Winner.
    • I think again, he would not mind being a back-up for a short-time if Ben does come back ok.
    • He is young and could be Ben's replacement when Ben's current contract is up; which is very soon as we know.
According to some other posters though, his price tag is too steep. I say find a way to work it out. Take care.

Do you mean "hard" to pass on Cam, or, a "hard" hell no on Cam?

    Hey dobbler-33.

Yeah, I think Mr. Dalton would be a great fit here for all of the reasons that I outlined. In my heart I feel he would like to play for us. He sees how we operate vs. his team and I think that would be a great selling point. However, it is my understanding that he has a very hefty price ticket that follows him. I am not sold on any media bytes that Ben is okay, coming along fine, everything is just peachy-keen. I will believe it when I see it.

Mr. Rooney and Ben are saying the same things. Great if it is factual. However, if not, or it is okay and then goes south, then what? Mr. Rooney went on record stating :"No Need" for a Veteran back-up. Really? I do not know about you but if anything does go haywire I am not at all with comfortable with Mason and Duck. We have all the pieces in place on the "D". The "O" looks formidable. However, without the main cog, the QB, look for a rewind of last year's movie. I also like Dalton because as Ben exits stage left, Dalton is much younger and can seamlessly fill his shoes IMO.

Nothing will be known until were shown I got ya. I don't think they have the money/ interest in either or but I'd take Dalton as a stop gap before cam in a heart beat.

    Hey dobbler-33.

I love Ben with all my heart. Given that, he has to feel pretty good about job security right about now. Meaning, if all he has to worry about is Mason and Duck, then the word "worry" does not even come into effect. I am just concerned that if he has any kind of setback whatsoever beginning, middle, end of season, we are in big trouble.

We know what we have on "D". It is a very, very good group. We are set. Tuitt coming back makes it even sweeter. Maybe Edmunds has a light go on. That would be the "Cherry" on top. The "O". I really think we have a good set of skill-set players at each position. It is just a matter of them all being healthy and on the field together, building chemistry. Bottom Line: We have a very good team on ppaer with one gigantic question mark….the QB. No, QB we are probably hovering around .500. QB, preferably Ben we are IMO, in the Super Bowl conversation. That is how much a quality QB makes a difference. Here is an original saying that I created. I like to write as you probably know (smile):

"Time is the greatest thief known to man".

It applies to our Steelers in so many ways.

I hear yinz... If Ben ain't they're in deep shtuff. Either way you cut it though, it doesn't change the fact that they don't have the moolah to bring anybody serviceable in to back him up. I'm hoping Mason will be ready to go if needed because that's the only option (or the other 2) on the roster. I'm not pulling his plug yet. Seen too many folks (QB) rebound after coming into this organization that went on to become great... Here and other places. Bradshaw Unitas Dawson.thank goodness they kept Terry!

Well they won't be getting Dalton this season, unless the Bengals cut him, I think he's making 17 million this season.

Ben was a breathe of fresh air from the numerous QBs you'd hope wouldn't make a mistake so they'd hand off to a Barry Foster, Bam Morris, Jerome Bettis, etc. We actually had a QB that was dangerous with the football and made everyone play better around them.

So completely agree. Of course your Patrick Mahomes are like grasping at straws. We currently have a former #1 pick as our 3rd string QB. Got to be the hardest position to draft for.

Thank you!! It was so frustrating between Bradshaw and Ben. Please not that again. It shows how hard it is. If we would of drafted Marino we would be going for 10 this year.
