I believe as explained to me the 22 million and change is money that was already paid out and has to be accounted for this year, his salary adds 19 mill, for a cap hit of 41 mill...unsustainable (especially with a lower salary cap next year). If he is cut/retires his cap number dead money, if he is extended then they can move some of that 19 mill over to next year, but his cap would still be around 28-30 million, with whatever dead money for 2022.

They need to decide to take the dead hit this year with focus on giving a new contract to TJ, or wait and pick up his 5th year and either sign him then or franchise...nothing is going to be cheap here. I was on the keep Ben for a year train earlier, but after last night I just do not think the arm is there. The whole philosophy of dink and dunk relies on more than what we currently have. The quick passes are fine, but you also need a quality ground game, and the ability to hit the 15 to 20 yard passes in the middle. We have not displayed that at all this year. Either Ben is not seeing it, or he just has no ability to throw those middle passes. Several times last night Chase was open, and Ben threw to JuJu, leading to an Int, 2 batted down, and nearly 2 more ints. Beyond a couple of runs in the 3rd by Snell, the ground game was still putrid.

easily defended is a joke, since the Baltimore game the opposing LB's have been salivating on getting those picks. Ben is zeroing in on a receiver like a rookie.

Got no idea what they should do. This definitely isn't the Ben of younger years ...and I think we didn't expect that, BUT he's been very poor the last several games. Decisions are poor, accuracy is poor, can't throw anything past 5 yards. Do you keep faith? This isn't a one or two game skid...this is now over a month and with every game he's getting worse. That's scary.

This year I think they have to stick with it. They are in the playoffs so we can only hope for the best. My opinion, next QB up next year (trade/draft someone and bite the bullet).

Do any fans have hope as the team sits now? I've got almost zero. I feel good about the pieces they have with exception to the line and the QB. ...although, that's a pretty damn big hole to fill.

Ben isnt hurt. He's washed up. This play is going back 3 seasons. He's a greedy person saying he's "honoring his contract".... more like stealing.

Why can't they bench Ben, or at least call it an injury. Like the Broncos did with Manning in 2015.

I thought his elbow was hurt not his shoulder. Either way, something has definitely affected his ability to throw the ball.

Mike Tomlin doesn't like to ruffle any feathers. He would have to answer to the brass and I don't think he likes getting that call. Let's say they yank Ben after 1st qtr miraculously Rudolph put up 4 TD's, 3 through the air and 1 with his legs. Suddenly the whole team plays better and snell gets lots of yards. Does he start his 20 million dollar QB next week to try and get him right for the playoffs or go with the hot hand?

I don't think MT likes to answer those questions. JMHO.

Its a shame the Qb's ego is more important then the team.

Bens arm is screwed up(remember him grabbing it all season) so his accuracy is off... then his knees are shot so he can’t put power on his throws. Add in bad decisions and well we are already thinking draft

Ben needs to look on the bright side of things... No Boo Birds with Covid!

At least 2020 guarantees that Ben will not have to end his historic career in Pittsburgh getting Boo'd off the field.

He tries to come back in 2021 it could be a different story.
