Me personally as a Steelers fan, this is music to my ears. I was hoping after this season ended that Ben would drop between 15 and 20 or maybe 25 pounds because at that weight I think he would dominate. To beat the Brady's and Brees's and Rodgers of this league alot of the time it comes down to just being sharper and tougher than they are which I think Ben will be if he sticks to his offseason work out plans. Grasp on to whatever plan Haley has for our offense and lets roll with it and get Lombardi number 7! Here we go Steelers, here we go!

I'm glad to hear this. Go Ben! :applaud:

He'll need to be in good condition. We all know he's always going to be on his "John Wayne," at times. And that flexibility/improvisation, in his game, is killer, when used properly. And the strength conditioning will protect him from injury, when he executes, in that mode. And working with his receivers early is great news, also. He needs to understand how to get in rhythm with them so he knows how to throw to them to both help them get YAC, and protect the ball from defenders.

    Thank you Mrs. Roethlisberger.

Getting married was a God-send IMO.

This is really great news... I really wish he'd be getting together with Haley though. If Ben would pull his head out of his ass he'd see that Haley said he's going to work to the strengths that he has... It's obvious that our strength is Ben + young WR's...

It'd be nice to see Ben start learning this new system now, so that by the time camp rolls around he can work WITH Haley (crazy right?) in implementing it to the rest of the offense. Be a leader dammit.

That's great news that he's working out now. He needs to shed some weight. He wasn't obese, but he was too heavy for his position, especially the way he plays the game. He just couldn't scramble last year, even when his ankle was healthy. He was just too slow.

I'm very frustrated and annoyed that he continues to push for the same offence. When you get a new OC, you don't keep the same offence. Every OC has their own playbook that they take with them where ever they go. The Pittsburgh Steelers as a team do not have a playbook. Teams don't have playbooks, coaches do. Tomlin will not have one as he has no offensive history. Tomlin can't design or call plays. The offence is going to change, and obviously Rooney wanted it to change or he wouldn't have brought in a new OC. Ben needs to stop campaigning to keep the same offence and just come to grips with the fact that things are going to change. The sooner he stops resisting what is absolutely going to happen, the sooner him and Haley can start coming up with plays for next year.

Based on this article, it still seems like Ben and Haley haven't sat down together and even talked. Ben still keeps trying to hang onto what he had last year. He needs to get with the damn program, I'm sick of him being so stubborn.

This is what I think is his big:

""Now that Eli has tied me with his second, I have to try to get back up on him. So I have a little extra motivation."

I am glad he found what he needs to motivate himself to further success.

But the problem is it's still all about Ben and not about the team. The guy has never put the team first, ever. Everything he does is all about him and his individual success. We had no running game under BA, and as a result our offence struggled. Yet Ben wants to keep the same offence because he knows he can put up big individual numbers under that system. He doesn't care about the success of the offence as a whole nor does he care about the success of the running game, he wants to put up big numbers all on his own.

I'm tired of him and his selfishness. Just once, I would love to hear him say something about the team, rather than about himself.

I really hope he works hard all through the off season and comes into camp in good shape. I can't say for sure what his strength and conditioning level was last year, but Ben wears he weight in his face. It was said that he was doing P90X through his suspension at the start of 2010 and what I saw was a much slimmer Ben come back after that. This past year he was chubbed out again and I was really dissappointed. He did look slow before the ankle injury. I think its safe to say he wasn't in the best shape and carried weight he should not have on his body as a football player.
Hell I am a poor boy with a few sets of dumbbells and a pair of running sneakers. With that and the P90X discs I can keep myself in good shape and my weight in check and thats w/out adequate time to do it and no strength/conditioning coaches or any means to have a nutritionist either. Long way to say he has no excuses...just has to do it.

Glad to hear this. I was beginning to wonder if he was going to come into camp looking like Jared Lorenzen. Still can't believe he owns a Superbowl ring. Probably sitting on his couch right now eating greasy KFC and collecting the never ending Unemployment checks.

Didn't Ben say the same thing last off season, and he also said that he would be more careful about throwing INT's at his own end of the field, and that he would throw the ball away more ? lol

Ben shut up and just do it instead of saying it. Hes like me, when ever I say that I'm going to stop doing something I end up doing it even more. Don't think about it Just Do It! Like the NikE commercials.

1.) hey, whatever fuels his fire. the 'individal success' you are bothered with him desperately yearning for doesn't involve passing records, it revolves around super bowl championships. he has never gone on record about how he wants to set passing records. even from the get-go, his goal has been to win more super bowl titles than bradshaw. a quarterback wanting to take burden of the offense's success, put it on HIS shoulders, and accept the responsibility . . . that's THE guy i want under center for my football team! you might wanna re-file that one from the 'bad' label to the 'that's a damn good thing!' label in your filing cabinet.

2.) "just once, i would love to hear him say something about the team, rather than about himself." re-watch the post-game comments from super bowl XLIII. the first words out of his mouth: "who's laughing now o-line?!"

the guy might appear to be a primadona, but his ego seems to be fed by his team's accomplishments.

that's my take anyways. no complaints here.

ha! interesting anecdotes about nike . . .

1.) the "just do it!" slogan . . . that was actually taken from famed killer gary gilmore's last words prior to being executed by a firing squad.

2.) the famous swoosh logo . . . phil knight didn't like it at all. he was a teacher at portland state, overheard a female student talking about wanting to be a graphic artist, paid her to create some designs, and was forced to choose one of hers as a deadline was approaching and went with the "least bad" of all the designs she presented. he admitted he didn't like it and suggested, "maybe it'll grow on me."

sorry. just went to a leadership symposium at nike headquarters in beaverton,or. met a lot of extraordinary people and got a personal tour of the company from a woman there who provided me with some interesting insights. thought i'd share.

I guess my complaint is about him wanting to top Eli. That's a Ben thing, not a Steelers thing. He doesn't want to win a SB for the team, he personally wants more SB's than another current QB. Normally I wouldn't think too much of it, but it just always seems to be only about Ben. He doesn't want to change the offence because BA's offence resulted in him throwing it deep constantly, which he enjoys doing. He loves throwing it deep and he loves throwing it a lot. He doesn't want Haley to reign him in at all and he has consistently said as much by insisting the offence not change. He needs to stop talking to the media about what he wants done with the offence and instead get on the same page as ALL the coaches on the team, including Haley. Every time he opens his mouth it's to say he doesn't want the offence to change. I'm tired of hearing that. Haley wasn't brought in to continue to let Ben throw it deep into double coverage every 5th play.

    1. Ward has repeatedly stated he wants to retire in Pittsburgh and he's willing to take the league minimum to stay here. He could go make more money elsewhere, but he wants to stay here.

    2. Ward didn't say "I want more SB's than Deion Branch, I need to beat him." Ward is saying he wants another SB, period.

    3. Ward has always been a team guy. When we did nothing but run the ball and Ward was used mostly to block, he never said a word. He gladly blocked and he gave 100% on every play, he still does.

I would love to see a quote where Ward says he'll take the league minimum. I don't think believe anyone can show a link that say so. Ward has said he'll restructure his contact, (wow, really!) But, a reporter in the Trib has reported that restructure means taking the $4Mil/yr down to $2Mi/yr. I But that ain't the vet minimum which for a 10+ yr vet is $920K/yr.

Well, he said he was going to talk to Art Rooney. Perhaps part of this comes from that conversation.

So you think Hines is greedy for wanting to continue to play? Makes no sense to me.

No but i think he gets a pass from everybody while ben gets ripped apart. Does everybody forget hines holding out in 02 i think it was 02. Hines has cuased issues in the locker room he has called his qb out but everybody acts as if he is perfect. Also i guess ben should have questioned wards toughness when he didnt come back after the lewis hit.
