Ben won't be in the Pro Bowl this year afterall. No reason has been given yet, but I suspect it's related to the knee procedure Tomlin mentioned in his season ending presser. Unless of course his "whiplash" was still an issue, but that seems unlikely. Drew Brees will take his place.

*Edit- He is being kept out as a precaution because of his knee, but won't require surgery afterall.

But will he still be considered a "Pro Bowler"? Like on his resume?

It's an honor but, I can't imagine why anyone would actually want to play in the glorified two-hand touch pick up game that the pro bowl has turned into.

I started to ask how it could be Brees since he's in the NFC, then I remembered that they changed the format a couple of years ago. Pro Bowl = YAWN

This is why the game should be cancelled, nobody wants to play in it.

If he needs it fixed do it now.
    Don't wait until summer.

And what exactly does this 'credit' get you? More $$$ come contract time? Into the HOF faster? Mentioned with the 'Elites'?

I like it, it is the best in the game playing a light heart-ed game and making sure no one gets hurt.
Kinda of a fans thanking you for the year.

I think pro bowls definitely get taken in to account by the HOF voters. They always list them among the people's accolades once they are voted in. Pro bowls and All Pros look good on a resume.

Mo' money. Aside from the meager paycheck they get for participating ($25 K on the losing team, $50 K on the winning team) many players have performance escalators in their contracts for making the Pro Bowl.

I think when they mention his bio they would say "been selected to the Pro bowl X number of times. But other than that probably nothing.

Guys used to WANT to make it back in the day before they got these mega deals. The bonus they got for it then was really good compared to what it is now in relation to what they are actually making in their contracts.

Agreed, an honorable mention in a newspaper would suffice. All star games are crap... Baseball might have a legit game but the rest are garbage

Just read that he's sitting out due to advice from medical staff... Dont want him to deal with the inflation. He's also been advised to rest and avoid strenuous activities, but will NOT require off season surgery.
