I'm sort of bored so I thought I'd start a Big Ben appreciation thread. Join in if you like but if you bash him in this thread then just go ahead and show yourself to the door.

Complete this sentence. Big Ben in his prime was best at_______________

It doesn't have to be the Best of Ben Roethlisberger but something he could do that not many others ever could be as good at.

Just a light hearted thread if you will.

    I'll start.

Big Ben in his prime was best at pump fakes.

Nobody seems to do that anymore and certainly not as good as he could.

The only other guy I ever saw pump fake like that was Steve DeBerg, who had huge hands like Roethlisberger.

Roethlisberger was also great at making plays after contact. Nobody was better at shaking off defenders and making a killer throw down the field.

He was amazing at playing street ball style when a play broke down.

    Evolving.

The "guys dropped all over him " was early Ben.

The 5td games against the colts was old Ben.

We saw two types of QBs with Ben and both were super fun.

I think the thing he was best at was that nothing ever phased him. The most impressive stat I ever saw on him was qb percentage after getting hit a few times in a game ... for every QB it went down, except for Ben.

He got clocked by Haloti Ngata for Christ’s sakes and kept goin like a champ. We won that game.

Improvising. My favorite Bill Cowher quote was when he was asked about Ben's ability to make something happen with a broken play. He responded that the wished the play they had called had worked.

Dusting off defenders like flies. Was like a linebacker playing QB.

Interesting you said that. I'd say WR made Terry Bradshaw into a superstar. Not sure of your age but Swann/Stallworth and others made some amazing catches on balls throw up for grabs.

Big Ben in his prime was best at making me sweat balls:)

Best thing for me was knowing we had a chance in every damn game.

    This went both ways

A lot of those up for grab balls were thrown that way because of who he was throwing to

Bradshaw once said he knew if he threw the ball to John Stallworth it would not be intercepted

Many times I was amazed the ball didn’t come flying out of his hand when he faked so hard

In his prime,he was one of the best in 3rd down and long because he could extend the play when necessary.

Taking the abuse from the Ravens, and then beating them.

He also owned the AFC North.

Really if You look at any Great Qbs Highlights, and then go ,and see what Ben has done.....there is not a play besides running for a really long td that You haven't seen Ben do...., but there are plays I've see Ben do I haven't seen others do.

Absolutely!! I remember SB #4. Rams were fired up heading to 4th qtr. and I was sweating balls. Bradshaw just started heaving the ball downfield knowing his guys were better then the defenders.

My favorite SB out of all of them by far. 1st time I was ever in a bar. Just 15 years old (wasn't drinking) Parents took me and my brother in a tavern that my Uncle owned. I remember all the car horns that went on forever after that game.

1971 I was a youngster and the thing I remember the most was the car horns after the Pirates beat Baltimore. Actually got annoying after awhile.

always - said that for 17 years, if Ben was on the field, there was a chance. Some of his early career 4th Q comebacks were just epic!
