Here's an article that was on Steelers.com. Interview with Ben. Most of it is about how everybody & the media went insane thinking Ben was being a jerk & going to tell Mr. Rooney "how it is". People jump off the deep end....and I mean waayyyyy off the deep end sometimes.

I didn't think his comments were as bad as they were made out to be... but at the same time it's like just shut up... You've been in the league long enough to know every word you say could possible be misconstrued.

At the same time, I don't think it matters how careful you are because someone out there is going to twist it until it makes their point. However, I agree you should, by this point in your career, know what is safe to say and what will become fodder for the masses.

His words in print sounded harsh, but if you listen to the interview of him at the probowl and how he said it wasn't bad at all.

That's true but and I hate absolutely throw up in the mouth, rather die a slow agonizing death than admit this, bu tif you look at how the Brady, Billicheck and the rest of the Pats talk to the media the don't give them anywhere to go with this stuff. You make it a non story by making it a non-story. Ben tries to get too cute with the media and then tries to magoo his way out when he steps in it. The whole mess could have been avoided if he would have kept it simple and given the story no where to go.

No one does it better then Jeter, he also is the most boring interview on the planet. I don't mind Ben not being so boring. Some times he makes me cringe but I still prefer that to a politicians answer, zzzzzzzzzzz

Ben needs to get in shape and drop 20 pds, he did a local interview here
when the Steelers announced Todd Haley. It looked like Ben had three chins
he was this overweight. Start looking like a football player Ben and not a fat slob
your longevity will depend on this. Get to the GYM.

But then, of course, if you say nothing, people will tend to make up what you're thinking/doing - as numerous threads did here about hiring an OC.

I agree with thorn - Ben could do with looking at how other players manage to handle media expectation.

He's still pushing hard not to change the offence. Ben needs to STFU. The offence is going to change, it always does when a new OC comes in, especially when he's very different from Arians. If Ben doesn't want the offence to change, fine, so say to Haley and Tomlin, but he needs to stop running his mouth to the media about it every chance he gets. Every single interview he has done, he has expressed a desire to keep the offence the same. He keeps saying how there will be a setback if it's changed much, possibly a setback for years.

Seriously, what kind of leader says something like that? What kind of team captain says the team will be setback for years if the offence is changed? What kind of useless, fat idiot claims his team will lose for years if things are changed?

How many OC's have the Pats gone through over the years? What about the Packers? Saints? Colts?

Good teams with good players and good leaders do not have setbacks because something is changed, they continue to win regardless of the change.

I'm so sick of Ben. I'm tired of his BS. I know he's not going anywhere and I know he brought us our first two SB's in a long time, but my god, he's a selfish idiot. I wish they had traded him to Oakland years ago when they were talking about it.

    Anyway, I'm done ranting

Ben has never been a guy I've loved except for his first couple years. I've just never liked the guy. When the team wins, I do forget about my hatred for Ben though.

brady and bellicheat have each others back. they both know the overall offensive scheme isn't going to change no matter who the OC is. brady knows that so why would he say anything?

we have been successful here overall. ben does not mean changing the offense means not firing it 90 yds. downfield every play. if some OC came into NE and went to a run offense with tom brady at QB and belicheck let it happen then tom brady would be VERY vocal.

this team moves the football. whether you like it or not, so changing it ALL would be a mistake. thats what ben is saying. the trouble with this team is putting it in the endzone when we get down there. that's where it needs changing. thats where art wants more run efficiency and less 5 wide. thats where the change needs to be, not overall. it's simple. thats why ben said he didn't want the whole offense changed and he's right.

situational offense was lacking under BA. keeping us out of 3rd and long was lacking because of run efficency on 1st and 2nd down and the redzone. thats what art II is talking about. bens head coach doesn't have his back about the offense like tom bradys does. someone has to be vocal about what worked and what didn't. as the team leader that should be his job, because his head coach won't. like they all have said keep what works and change what didn't. thats all , don't read more into it then what they mean. it should make this team a juggernaut. ben needs to play within the system and protect the ball. not think he has to do it all. once they show him this new part can work, i think he will buy into it.

His harmless words were twisted by the media to create controversy.
