You got that right. We showed recruits a film on VD in week six of training. Just after the rifle range at Parris Island and they show pics of what types of VD can look like. Recruit beats on my hatch requesting to talk to the Senior Drill Instructor, He is whispering. I jump his stuff about whispering and he whispers "sir the Privates, privates look like one in the film. OH CHIT! Ask him did he visit a hooker before he left home. Nope. Only girl He had sex with was his Girfriend, who he was going to marry. Sent him to sick bay for a shot in the butt. Always wondered if he did marry her.

I heard today 93.7 fan that Tomlin knew Bell was going to be late for Saturday;s walk thru.

Why didn't Tomlin clarify this if it is true?

Which is 5 million more than the 2nd highest rb in the league. Just say NO to LB. Tag him, here offers and

make the best deal you can to unload.

There's no question that Bell is one of the best RBs in the game. This being said, our O Line makes him look better than he actually is, and would make any RB look good. If we lose Bell there will be a drop off in production, but not enough of a drop off to justify his cap hit. The money would be better spent on a good RB and a top tier ILB.

We also have to remember that he's one bong hit away from a year long suspension and 2 hits away from a lifelong banishment. It sucks, but that's the reality, and has to be considered when deciding on his future with the team.

His injury history is another issue. It ain't his fault, but the injury bug sure must like the taste of his blood. Still, that's an issue that you gotta be concerned about.

I loved watching him run for the Steelers. Now I can only hope he goes a NFC North team so we don't have to face him until 2021.

I actually forgot Parker was in 43. He was injured that season for a bit as I recall - was that when we had Mewelde Moore as a back up?

EDIT: Just checked; it was Moore and Gary Russell.

Parker was a big contributor to the victory over the Chargers in the divisional round, IIRC. I can't remember when he got hurt... Chargers or Ravens game.

I don't disagree with a lot of what you say but that is the chance you have to take. You can shy away cause of off field stuff but you can't about injuries cause you have no way to predict that. I will say this he is the best at his position(some may not say so) and we are a major offensive thread with him here so I am all for bringing him back. Let me ask you this you don't want to give Bell big money but yet we have like 26 mil tied up in our DE's. Come on now our D played bad with them two at least we know we can score with Bell and have a chance to win with offense too. Sorry but Bell, Ben, AB, MB, Juju and whatever more weapons we add is the best in the league, don't chance changing that. Get a few parts to fix the D and keep Bell. JMO

They better not pay him anywhere near what he was looking for last year.

Steelers need to use the money they were going to pay Bell and get a quality NT and ILB in free agency. For the money Bell wants, Steelers can upgrade the defense in 2 areas.

That's simply not the way the Steelers operate. They don't spend much on free agents, never have. So they might as well pay Bell, because it's not like they'll bring in a good free agent

So you want to use that money and improve the D which I agree with but at the same time we would take a weapon away from the best offense in the league. I don't like that we know what we have on offense with Bell and we have seen before what this offense is without him...not as good.

The problem is not giving Bell the big money, the problem is guys like Mitchell who stink and are making 8 mil. Also everyone wants to keep talking about using that money on D, man we already have 26 mil tied up on our 2 DE's. How ya gonna feel if we let Bell walk due to money and we don't get a guy to take his place but you will sit there and watch out 26 mil DE's every week? I like both Heyward and Tuitt but man I didn't realize how much money we had tied up there and our D stunk last year when we needed it.

Again I feel getting rid of MM and finding a replacement for RS is a big step in fixing this D and keeping Bell is the way to make us a favorite next year. jmo

There is nothing significant until an agreed to contract is laying in front of him for him to sign....

I am definitely in "give the money to the defense" camp. Love Bell and he is a great talent, but D wins championships. Look at the conference championship games this year, 3 teams with great defenses and middle of the road qbs. Wentz was hurt late but they still won 2 with Foles. And I don't want to have them throw even more money at the strength of the team - offense. Time to solidify that defense and I think a premium pick at RB will do the job. Like I stated in the other thread. Sign Bell to a long term contract and then trade him.

Giants would be a contender imo and Washington may make a deal to entice Cousins to stay or if Cousins goes then it could lessen the impact with them acquiring Bell.

NYG have 21mil cap space, and Wash has 52mil. Pitts is 2mil in the hole.

Heyward played great all year so I'm not sure about the criticism there. Tuitt was pretty quiet this year, but we don't know how the injury lingered. I think a stout guy in the middle to rotate with Hargrave would do wonders as well as better play from our ILBs.

Just from what the media is reporting, it seems the Steelers are trying to get Bell signed so I doubt a trade happens. But I think it would strengthen the team more overall.

And if the team doesn't release Mitchell, expect similar results. Bringing back Timmons would suck too. Time for younger more dynamic players.

Except for last season when they were looking at what was it 8mill for Hightower? Money I thought would have been better spent on Dontarl Poe. He signed a one year deal with Atlanta for roughly the same. He is again a FA so I hope they at least kick the tires this year.
