Well, looks like we'll have to wait another week before we see Bell. His comment of "I'll try my best to play" doesn't sound too optimistic. Don't really have an opinion one way or the other on the live hitting, but it didn't necessarily seem to toughen us up in the first pre-season game.

If he becomes injury prone it won't be because he's in the NFL. It will be because he plays for us. COL! (that's a new acronym I invented just now that means Crying Out Loud)

"When you come to Steelers camp, it's LIVE. God bless whoever it was, but they decided to run Lynn (Swann) on an in route. Sure enough, one of our defensive backs just pounds him. You know, we're like vultures, walking around, seeing if he's gonna get up or not. He gets up, and we're like 'okay. okay.' Next day: new rule. Defensive backs are no longer allowed to tackle receivers or drive them to the ground. And we're like, 'Ah, this is the Lynn Swann Rule'."

It was Timmons that lit Redman up with a brutal crackling hit.

I have to admit, injuries happen every year, even more so in the lighter times of camp.

We have raised a very soft society, may God help us all
if this generation may ever have to do any serious physical
work for long periods of time.

I hope Jonathan Dwyer is ready to seize the opportunity. He keeps talking about how he wants to be an elite RB. This is his chance to go out and prove it.

I am a big supporter of JD, but his chances are running out.

I remember hearing him say that. Lynn Swann was tougher than people think though really.

Steelers are not getting any more injured than any other team. Actually, we're doing a little better on the injury front than we did last year I believe.

Shouldnt we be happy we know Bell is injury prone BEFORE the season starts so we can make sure we have others prepared to play. If he cant handle getting hit by our own players, imagine what he would be like against opposing D's whose main goal is to hurt him???

From the video I have seen of Bell  in practice seems to me he is running with not much enthusiasm just sort of running up in there with little force and the defense is coming at him with balls to the wall, now who is going to get the best of that situation.

Looks like we signed RB Jeremy Wright today. Hey, we may not see LeVeon Bell Monday but we'll probably get to see Jeremy Wright! Excited?! Yeah, me neither!

Man, I hope Bell isn't one of "those guys" who just can't seem to shake the nagging injury bug. It's plagued many a promising career.

I guess anything is possibly, but I hardly can see how Wright could be much worse than Batch or Dwyer were Saturday night.

Also we should be happy because we can prepare ourselves for the heartbreak of the inevitable disappointment of watching a guy we wanted to see on the field just standing on the sidelines because of injury. LOL. I mean COL.

The reports I saw coming out of camp said he was limited. Here's a report from the PG~

"One day after aggravating a left knee bruise, rookie running back Le’Veon Bell was a limited participant in practice. Bell did some individual work, but did not take any reps in team drills and did not have any contact"..."Redman also was a limited participant in practice Friday after he sustained a stinger in practice yesterday."

Is ANYONE on SteelHurtin`s side on this???
I`m not, and no disrespect to him, for having his point of view, even if I don`t agree with it, I give him credit, for being the lone voice of opposition, to the hitting in camp.
I don`t think I`ve seen another single poster agree with him, which is really weird on this board, especially, when, I can understand his point about hurting each other, in camp, before we play the opponents.
I don`t agree with it, but, I can see where he is coming from.
Aside from alll that, I thought it was funny, that the Steelers had to clarify, that one of our own didn`t actually hurt Bell, and it "WASN`T" a live period, etc, etc, etc.. whatever...
The kid is gonna get hit harder, when we face our enemies.
    Hopefully he can handle it.
Never seemed injury prone in college, but those kids were USUALLY smaller than the guys that are gonna be hitting him on Sundays!
And on a more general note, I can see why some players think we should just do away with pre-season altogether...
I forget if it was one of ours, or one of the Clown`s, that I read a qoute from, after they got decimated by injuries, in their 2nd preseason game, who mentioned...
"This is the only level we even HAVE pre-season... High school, College, Pee-Wees, etc... Ya just jump right into it,. The games count from day one"...
He has a bit of a point. It can also be argued that those are the games for coaches to evaluate their "depth", in live action, but IF they hadn`t put so many restrictions on camp/practice, etc...
They could evaluate the players "at that juncture", rather than charging fans full price, for a glorified scrimmage, and they could even have their golden "18 game schedule", just by eliminating 2 preseason games...
    I dunno...
    It`s football... Players hit...
That`s what we pay to see...
I don`t see an advantage to be gained in this day and age, by trying to "pamper" your team, so they are healthy at the start of the regular season.
Ya do that, you are gonna put a bunch of healthy, UNCONDITIONED bodies on the field, at the beginning of the year, IMHO...
And how many injuries happen, just "going thru the motions", anyway? PLENTY...
Might as well have `em ready for the "live fire" on Sundays... IMHO...
Sorry, just had to vent against the restrictions placed on coaches, by the new CBA for a minute.
Got that off my chest now...
    GO STEELERS!:herewego::steelflag:
