    Hoodie is out in Foxboro.

No, Pittsburgh is not going to fire Mike Tomlin and hire Belichick. Never going to happen. Vrabel is probably the frontrunner for that job.

This is crazy, though. Within 24 hours, Pete Carroll, Nick Saban and Belichick are out of their career defining jobs.

Belichick is 71, nobody sane thinks that the Steelers would sign him.

Tomlin is now the longest tenured head coach in the NFL...For how long?

I don't think Bill had any designs on starting all over for a new team. Had NE agreed to reduction in role, he probably would have coached there 5 more years - provided he turned it around.
But no re: Pittsburgh. Never a consideration. I don't really believe he will take a Front Office job, I think he just retires.
TV would be interesting, his dry delivery would doom him. lol.

I'd find it hard to believe that any team would want him. He's less than a handful of years away from retiring. He's the absolute opposite of stability for any prospective team. He's one of the greatest, if not the greatest of all time, but thanks but no thanks.

I think they all are 71 or 72 - I hope they enjoy retirement! I certainly don’t want to be working in my 70’s

Agree. Retirement. He’ll never top what he did in NE. Only motivation is to prove he could do it without Brady and I doubt that’s enough. His legacy is already cemented.

Imagine he went to TV and was completely different. Heck, imagine if Tomlin does walk away and ends up on CBS with Cowher. :roflmao:

Maybe Belicheck calls up Saban so they can work on their golf and shuffle board games now.

Kidding aside, it will be interesting to see if he really does retire completely. He strikes me as a Joe Paterno type, can't live without the game but who knows. My guess is the Vrabel firing might have pushed this along. I can't imagine Kraft being OK with missing out on a chance to hire him. I'd personally prefer they bring back McDaniels as HC to ensure it remains a train wreck for a while.

Hell, what about his front office decisions have anyone convinced he's worth that position? I really think if he'd have stepped back from that a few years ago and just focused on the coaching, he could have found another way to catalog teams plays and coach his players up on them discretely!

I think he retires as well. Even though its a crappy way to go out with a crap season he is considered by many to be the best coach ever even though prior to Brady he sucked and afterwards he sucks so there is that. No way he goes somewhere else and kills it. If you don't have an elite QB its not happening for most coaches anyway right away. At 71 does he want to start that process all over, nah.

I have heard for years that he has more personality and he is actually very funny away from the cameras. The way he comes across in interviews is mostly him being a control freak. I'm not sure if that is true, but at the very least, the guy is fascinating when you really get him going about football.

I don't think he is going to retire. He seems like a lifer to me.

Brady was, at best, an average player along for the ride when Belichick's Patriots won their first Super Bowl. Hell, Brady getting hurt actually helped them against the Steelers in the AFC Championship game.

The old school defense first type of coaches are being weeded out. Vrabel, Carroll, Belichick and even Tomlin might be stepping down. The front offices around the league are wanting offense oriented coaches now.

Bill needs 15 more wins to pass Don Shula for all time wins. If he takes the Falcons job he might have to coach 5 more years to catch Shula.

    I've been around him.
I actually get his dry humor.. not sure if an audience would, maybe?

I just don't know. At 71... but he does workout with the team and is in better shape than what appears.
I'd keep an eye on Washington and Josh Harris. $90mil cap space, decent pieces in place on defense and 5 picks in the top 100... and Harris is shaping up to appear to be a good owner.
Probably along shot, he is embedded in NE. I think Bill likes the unknown.

He is. His dry demeaner is reserved for the presser. I have seen shows with him and he has a wealth of knowledge.

The Redskins have the #2 pick in the draft, that's an attractive job to get for a new coach. Like you said they have 5 picks in the top 100, good drafting can lead to a franchise turn around in Washington.

I don't think he'll retire and I'm sure several teams would be interested.
I can see San Diego trying for him. They don't normally break the bank, but with an elite QB, now would be the time if they really want to win. They might finally be tired of losing and may go all in.
