Ballsy but feels like Kevin Costner is making the moves for them.

I'm surprised the Bears will drop that far to #9, I guess they aren't interested in drafting Jalen Carter, of course they can try to trade back up.

This is a big bet on Justin Fields from the bears side, one they probably felt they had to take. Has there ever been a team with more draft capital and cap space all at once? They can totally transform that roster now.

Carolina also betting big on whoever they are taking at #1.

All it says is Justin Fields go prove yourself. If it don't work out then there will be a roster built for whomever they select at QB in round 1 of 2024.

Obviously Carolina thinks that they need the best QB in 2023 to compete.

Not bad they were not taking a QB this year anyway. Might as well drop back 8 spots get someone you still wanted while picking up a WR and a 1&2 next year!

Claypool might not be feeling it though...

Not for Chicago. They can really build their roster immediately if they hit on their picks. Carolina gave up way too much IMO.

Yup! Now even if you improve your win-loss, but decide Fields isn't the future, you have the draft capitol to do what ever you want next year if you need to! If he tanks, you're probably in the top 5 anyway again and you have 2 picks to play with.

Bad news for my draft hopes for steelers, Bears need OL help
this will use up one of those early OL. Was counting on them taking Carter or Anderson.

Not really a bet on Justin Fields. They have the draft capitol and a new #1 receiver for him this year. If he doesn't pan out, and they have a high draft pick next year, they have the draft capitol to move up and select another QB.

The NEXT Ohio State quarterback to look competent in the NFL will be the FIRST Ohio State quarterback to look competent in the NFL.

Yes that’s true, they’ll be an intriguing team next year whatever happens. They need a lot of players on both sides of the ball so an interesting offseason in store for them.

Ill bet they’d like that Claypool trade back

I'm not writing Chase Claypool off as being a total bust yet. He's still young and a gifted athlete. He just hasn't put it all together so far. His next 3 years will be very telling. JMHO.

Not if their Qb sucks. They could have done nothing, and just picked a Qb that is better.

I don’t think he is a bust either but from what we have seen he is not worth giving up the #32 pick for.

I wish Chase well and I hope he goes on to do very well in his NFL career, ability is there for sure

We've seen him play opposite a true #1 and he looked good. Problem is he tends to catch and go to the ground way too often and doesn't use his size to his advantage. Couple that with how he always seems to body catch and you get what we've seen for 2 years!

Could see the bears being better but i think the cap for claypool is 800 yards. Not sure fields will ever be a 4000 yards a year type of guy. My dynasty team sure hopes he becomes one though. Also have dj moore so hope they connect.

Yes, even if the ball is thrown at Claypool's chest, he still leaps in the air and tries to catch it. After 4 years at Notre Dame and 3 years in the NFL, I don't think he's going to change his style of play.

True…once a body catcher always a body catcher. That’s a habit that’s developed early on and should have been coached out of him at the JV or HS level. It’s fully ingrained in him now so too late to change.
