Rudolph will be a good QB. I foresee playoff victories with him as a starter.

Tampa Bay should kick tires on Dobbs, with Blaine Gabbert being injured. Winston cannot stay healthy and maybe Steelers could get a 7 for Dobbs.

The Hodges situation reminds me a lot of Kyle Sloter with Denver. He was an UDFA too out of Univ. of Northern Colorado. Sloter killed it in preseason but was a surprise cut by Denver who had Trevor Seimian, Paxton Lynch and maybe a 3rd (can't remember). He is immediately picked up by Minnesota and is now their 3rd QB and pushing for #2 as he is having another good preseason.

We all know the QB position is different and I would not take pedigree into account if the guy shows he can play. Tomlin has yet to announce the QB rotation for game 3 but I hope it is a quarter for each. I just don't want to lose any talent even if it is a 3rd stringer. I just don't think they will keep a 4th QB on the PS. Game 3 won't tell us much between Dobbs and Hodges since I think their shots will be limited since Ben and Rudolph will play. Game 4 should be interesting though

Sadly, that would be the "Sunk Cost Fallacy" in its prime form. Besides, Dobbs has not been playing horrible. It is just that Mason Rudolph has taken the necessary steps to evaluate his game to a whole new level.

So are you saying that the Steelers won't trade Dobbs because they invested a 4th?

If the Steelers already have made up their minds about Dobbs staying no matter what, then they might just let Hodges play the entire 4th game just so he can showcase his play for another team. Of course that could backfire on them if he went off for 4TD's and over 300 yards. They would look foolish for cutting him after that.

Depends. For something like a 7th round pick? Oh heck no. A fifth?! I could imagine the Steelers having some interest.

That all being said, don't expect it. Dobbs is not going anywhere. There is not much trade value currently anyway.

National media has speculated on the trade value for Nick Mullens the 49ers 3rd stringer who is battling with CJ Beathard. So if a depth player plays well I bet there is value. Has Dobbs played that way this preseason? That's the question. He has showcased his mobility but is that enough? Hard to tell.

If Hodges plays well, I would trade Dobbs for a 7th easy. Or even player for player. I don't think the Steelers would have a cut off point for trading Dobbs if they view Rudolph as the #2 and believe Hodges has more upside.

Basically we are talking 3rd stringers and late round picks which will not greatly impact the team (let's hope lol) this year. It's just fun to speculate some. Does Dobbs' draft investment/experience overcome Hodges connection to the Rooneys and his performance so far? Two games to find out...

With Andrew Luck now retired the Colts starter is Jacoby Brissett and his backup is Philip Walker. I think Dobbs would be an immediate upgrade and at least the #2 QB there.

Mullens started eight games last season and played fairly well. He completed 64.2 percent of his passes and threw more touchdown passes (13) than interceptions (10). Dobbs didn't start any games and he sucked in his only extended playing time against the Raiders. They are not a fair comparison.

We would be wise to “showcase” Dobbs tonight...have him play the entire second half. If he does well, someone (Colts?) would be willing to throw us a bone. If Dobbs does not play well, it would solidify the decision to release him.

Trade Dobbs for a back up TE that's more of a current need than a 6th or 7th rounder and that's all Dobbs will bring.

But I'm not so sure he will be traded. But we shall see.

The colts should trade for Taysom Hill with the saints, this guy is is amazing, saints will want a high pick but I think a 4 or 5 can get the trade done, he is being compared to steve young and has loads of athletic ability....

Some fans booed, but I don't think they took it to that level. That would be criminal.

I thought we were talking QB's and they haven't developed a QB JuJu was a superstar before
he got here, thanks Swanny. Conner was also a proven talent before Steelers drafted him.
