Turtles on rollerskates  This is getting frightening :swoon:

@Thorns, I'm not sure anyone was implying an OC has nothing to do with the draft, just that they don't have final say on who's drafted. It was being thrown around that if BA was still here, we wouldn't have taken DeCastro, that's silly to me. We took Pouncey under BA and some suggested we had no choice but to take him. Like there was any other choice but to grab DeCastro? Steelers have been one of the best drafting organizations in the history of football, long before BA arrived and will be long after.[/quote:23gnqbpq]

I am willing to say that yes in most cases it is the HC and the GM that make the final call. I would even go so far as to agree that when he was here Arains had input but the final say was Tomlin and Colbert. However looking at the Colts situation I think Arains had more input than people are willing to give him credit for. You have a new head coach that came from being a defensive coordinator and a GM that was not only rebuilding a team but also preparing his first draft so I think they leaned heavily on what BA's thoughts and wants were. As I have said before if he felt that his multiple tightend sets could overcome shortcomings on the oLine that could be addressed at a later time then they could be swayed by that trusting the judgement of a OC that had been on Championship teams and presumably led those teams to winning seasons. I think that if they did it is a miscalculation on thier part especially the first time Luck takes a hard hit.

Exactly and some org.'s are more free with their HC/OC/DC with allowing them to have more input towards the draft...... this team is all colbert all the C's have input but none have the final say thats his job its why we named him after soooooo damn long to General Manager cause thats what he is hs is the Man :steelersrock: :boorats:

I second your emotion HACK! People pay attention, look at the title of the thread, BA, don't click on it if you don't want to discuss BA! You hav 50 other threads to click on.

Myself, I want to hear about, talk about, and in general keep up with his demise because he singlehandedly destroyed the philosophy of the Steelers organization that had been used for decades with his BA BALL mentality. Now its time to see what he does to the Colts organization.

Now this is another relevant quote, because it is true. We all knew BA's faults all to well. With Haley everything will be proven that BA had no clue. Every week we had BA arguments on the board, what he didn't do and how much he messed up. Their was never a complete game where his game plan was perfect. There was always some flaw! Now we will see a competent game plan and some skillful play calling from Haley. We will not see the helter skelter stuff from BA. THANK GOD!!

I'm going to make my comments about the BA thread, not a quote.

I was one of the biggest supports of "FIRE BRUCE ARIANS IMMEDIATELY" comment from the old board to the new one. Their was one other person who hated BA more than anyone. His name was KEVDUDE!! Has anyone seen KEVDUDE? I think he was the creator of the "FIRE BRUCE ARIANS IMMEDIATELY" comment. He was pretty intensed about getting BA out of town. He always made very good analysis about BA's short commings. He made it very clear and gave proper evidence in any comments that he made.

I created the BA BALL moniker for ballon head BA because of his love affair for his rediculous passing game, his disrespect for the running game, and his failure to have any knowledge of creating a running game with his use of TE's as full backs, and for getting rid of all the legit full backs on the roster, (See John Khun)!

He made it so very hard to watch every weekend with his stupid game plans. He made watching Steelers football on game days so frustrating! Hopefully our game days will be better now. We won't have to watch the game and scream at the TV because BA did the same stupid stuff over and over again. Thats what its all about. Anyone he saids that they enjoyed watching the Steelers games while BA was the OC with all the stupid stuff he did is just lying!! How could anyone stand it.

When our offense rises to the occassion this year under Haley, I bet games days will be better. Will those BA lovers admit it?

I agree here. Ben took a beating in that offense.
