Latest trailer. I wish life had a fast forward button. 6 more weeks for me...

(And for Game of Thrones fans, the voice of Charles Vane is the actor who played Dagmer Cleftjaw in season 2.)

    One more.

And for anyone interested, I saw an interview with the game's lead developer who said that they intentionally designed this game knowing it would be a launch title for the new consoles. Because of that, they made it so someone with absolutely zero knowledge of previous games could jump right in and not really be lost.

IOWs, you don't have to have played the previous games, nor know anything about the mythology going into this one. They'll catch you up.

I've been absolutely immersed in this game for 2 days. I only have 21% complete.

Maybe something will change my mind, but I'm calling it right now. Best. AC Game. Ever. It's not even close. (Sorry Ezio. I still love you.) IDK if I'll call Edward my favorite... yet. But he's nipping at Ezio's heels. The overall game, however, is just miles ahead of anything that came before (see what I did there? ;))

On Next Gen, it's just friggin GORGEOUS. I'm sure it looks good on the previous gen too, but this is amazing. And the environment - from visuals all the way down to even the sound of a fly buzzing - just adds a complete feeling of authenticity to the game. The only way they could do it better would be to invent smellovision, and lets us smell the salt spray (or stinking bays ;))

Gameplay is varied just enough so that no one thing gets old. And man alive, is there a metric crapton of things to do! This is the Pirate version of Red Dead Redemption... on steroids... and HGH... and creatine... and meth.

Even modern day - albeit odd controlling - is fun. I just spent over an hour doing nothing but picking up coded messages and hacking computers. :D Can't wait to see what more I can find. As to the question about the end of AC3, and is <spoiler> really <spoiler>? You find out. ;)

It's weird that they make YOU the modern day character this time around. After all, we know more than we should already. But it's a neat twist how they're making it work. My first day "on the job," as I'm getting the guided tour, I could have sworn I saw someone I recognized, but I didn't get a clear look, and I was being hustled toward the elevator, so I couldn't run back and get a better look. And this individual was walking the other way, so I couldn't see the face for sure.

Well, later on down the line, I go down into the lobby and hear the... ummm... coffee salesman arguing with a courier. And I almost broke my face smiling at the voices! Long lost friends! So who I thought I saw WAS who I thought I saw. I can't wait to see where this is going...

Meanwhile, back in pirates of the Caribbean: As I said, there's a wide variety of things to do. But unlike in AC3, where there was too much, and most of it was unnecessary and BORING, here, that isn't the case. You never feel as if you're doing something just to do it. Everything has a purpose. And it's FUN! Ok, harpooning gets old after a while - once it's no longer a challenge anyway. But once you have the materials you need, you don't have to do it anymore if you don't want to.

Combat is fast and brutal. On ground that is. Or you can go super ninja stealthy if you like. There's many ways to skin a cat here.

    At sea...

I'll say this. You're going to HATE it... at first. There's a learning curve. It feels odd. It's frustrating. But hang in there. When it clicks, and it will, it becomes a blast. No pun intended.

Turns out, Jimmy Buffett was wrong. At least in this game, cannons DO thunder, and there's plenty to plunder. :D

    :shock::bowdown:

If that's the case then I'd definitely never finish it. They don't make a strong enough Ritalin for me to finish RDR. :lolol: Sounds awesome, Ray.

Ha! Yeah, I'm sure this game could probably be finished much faster than my smell the roses pace. But the roses smell go good...

Just finished my 6th rum soaked journey through this game. And it's just as much fun as the first time.

Until R* gets off their backsides and makes the long anticipated sequel to RDR, this may be game of the generation... for next gen.

Funny that Watchdogs (also made by Ubisoft) has far superior graphics... but is lifeless compared to AC4.

You've finally convinced me to pick this up. I was going to get it for the PS3, but it could be fun to play a "grown up" game on Wii U. :)

Hehe. I got nothing else worth playing until fall, so I tend to fall back on my favorites.

I liked Watchdogs. But there's a lot of flaws that kill any replay value (until they fix them at least).

I do NOT recommend WD on PS3. Tht game looks and plays horribly on last gen. AC4 is fine on last gen. Maybe not quite as pretty (mostly draw distance, water and weather effects and some textures), but plays just fine.

And of course, I'm already looking forward to the next Assassin's Creed:

    Now, with multiplayer co-op missions!

Man...that looks pretty awesome. IIRC, they have different teams working on the franchise so a new one comes out essentially once a year, right?

Yes. It's only been a year since the last one, but each new one has usually been in development for 3 years or so before release. This one being next gen only might have been a tad longer.

(I've been waiting for the French Revolution since AC:Brotherhood! LOL They totally teased back then, and then we took so many detours, I thought maybe I'd imagined it)

CoD goes the same way. Even more so now that they're rotating 3 different studios. Then again, it's CoD. You have a 50/50 chance at best of it being any good.
