I see on the NFL network that the Eagles may take a 5th or 6th rd pic for Samuel's.. i think he has 2yrs left on his contract...I dunno what his salary is but, a quality corner for a 5th or 6th is worth a look

His salary is ridiculous. That's one reason they are trying to get rid of him because they have 2 other corners.

I was waiting for his name to come up again on here. NO! He's owed around $11 mil this year...and like $12-14 mil next year. Even though that cheap of a pick for a guy...while still aging and not what he used to be...his salary isnt worth it...and theres no way he'd take a pay cut down to like a couple mil a year so the team could afford him.

He's like the complete antithesis for what we look for in CB's too. He's completely a finesse player.

From what I've seen, he's more of a man-to-man CB as well, correct? We do way too much zone for him.

    Could we restructure his deal?

Not to where it would be worth it. With as much money as he's making...plus his age...it'd be hard to had enough years and structure things affordable for the Steelers (from what I've read, heard, understood, etc). He's probably have to take an outright pay cut of a good chunk of money and maybe turn more into a bonus. And I just dont see him doing that (at least as low of a number as the Steelers would need him at).

Exactly. Doesn't really fit our current defensive scheme. Plus we can't afford him so.....

Yes, but that's why they Eagles haven't traded him yet. The Eagles and Broncos had a deal worked out for a 5th round pick supposedly, but Asante essentially blocked the deal because he wasn't willing to take the pay cut that the Broncos wanted him to.

Dam looks like we could have restructured his deal .....man we should have got him.....that 7th rounder probably won't make our team

Of course he restructured under a new deal...he HAD to...no team would take him with what he was making. His new deal has him still making TOO MUCH for the Steelers to afford him. I do not see what people dont understand about that.
