Are we obligated to punt....?

When it’s clear our defense can’t stop anyone and we’re down midway through the 4th quarter, are we obligated to punt on 4th and short near midfield? 2 weeks ago we had a similar situation with KC down 12, and yesterday down 6. Our offense wasn’t playing award winning football either, but I think our odds of success improves with one more offensive play as opposed to the Berry and Butler crap show.... worst case scenario, you fail and then your defense gives up points quicker and spends less time on the field. It’s almost a win-win....

 

I found it an odd decision as well, but with the way the offense was playing it was really 6 or 2 threes... my view was go for it, because at least if the Ravens get the ball at midfield it eats less of the clock.
