That's amazing Ray. My Lady is a top notch Nikon shutter bug and was really jazzed to see your captures. We got some here in middle CA but nothing like that. Bravo Sir.

(Simulated) Adjusted aperature and shutter speed. Had to play around with that and the white balance settings to get good, vibrant pictures. Some of my pictures had 20 second exposures. Some looked better at 10 seconds. And I snapped a few with only 2 second exposures to try to accurately show what the sky actually looked like to my eye.

I was using a Samsung S24 Ultra on PRO mode with RAW images. And a few pictures got a little punch up after the fact to brighten the colors more.

I'll post a couple more (including one of how the sky actually looked) once I get home.

Great shots! What part of the country are you in? I was hoping to see the lights last night here in southern Maine. Didn’t see them……

Eastern PA. Thursday night's aurora was so damned strong it was visible in Arizona!

Last night, it fizzled out before we got to the dark side. Only the usual suspects got to see it.

I knew it was coming on Thursday for a couple days (and hoped it would be as strong as anticipated). I went outside right at dusk but couldn't see anything. Went back in for 20 minutes or so and when I went back outside, the whole damn sky from east to north was red. It was eerie. If I didn't know an aurora was coming, it might have freaked me out. :lolol: Bummer that I didn't really know how to get a good picture then when it was really flaring up. I got pics, but they were ho hum. I finally figured out how to set the phone up for good light and was getting nice pictures, but the aurora had weakened. Then, around 1030, I was about to go in when I saw the horizon getting red again. It was flaring back up and then I got some really spectacular pictures.

Bucket list partially checked off. I waited my whole life to see them. Now, I need to see them with ribbons overhead and bright enough not to need long exposure. ;)

Since we don't get the changing leaves here, (palm trees don't lose their leaves) I had to go to Vermont

Gorgeous pics, Ray. It was so damn cloudy here you could barely see them.
