Every year it seems like that the NFL and Refs are trained to be more objectionable on certain penalties like interference and how its interpreted.

Anyone hear of anything for this year?

It would be awesome if the Steelers had refs to watch and guide what to look for this year in practices but I don't know if that is allowed.

    Thoughts?

I don't like the direction that the rules are headed. In my opinion, the refs are hesitant & unsure because they can't beat the replay. Having NY interpreting then overruling the calls on the field is just the rotten egg on top.

Agreeing mostly with the other comments, but the whole thing drives me nuts. Some team gets butt hurt by an obviously supid call, then refs are suddenly instructed to highlight that particular rule(s). If is becomes to burdensome all of a sudden the focus is shifted again mid-season to something else.

I think the NFL continues to be pleased with the unwritten rule that arm bar takedowns of TJ are legal, and doesn’t need to make further changes.

Are any new/current rules going to be enforced this yr? Not really, I think we can expect same level of inconsistency and tentativeness that we come to know and love from the zebras.

Replay could be fixed with these rule changes:

    - No more auto-replays on scoring plays. Requires a coach challenge.
    - If it isn't obvious in 60 seconds of review, the call on the field stands.
    - If the play isn't overturned, challenging team is penalized ten yards.
    - You can challenge anything you want.

Challenges should be rare and only occur on critical plays.

I think it should be like college. Continuous review by dedicated review officials. If there is something egregiously wrong or a critical moment they can stop play otherwise let it stand.

    For the win!

    Well done.

I for one am happy about the NY review. The process needs to be refined ( takes way to much time at moments ) but let's make sure to get it right.

Stafford throws a forward pass to Kupp behind the line of scrimmage. Kupp, believing Stafford's pass was a lateral, goes beyond the LOS, pitches the ball back to Stafford who is still behind the LOS, who then throws it deep to Woods.

I read somewhere a few tears ago that Baltimore has suggested more rules or reviews of current rules on a seasonal basis than most teams have done in their history. It's kinda like the little brother who wants to remind everyone he is still in the family....at every available opportunity.

I cannot remember the play or even the game, but something like this happened to them last year and either the ref's blew the call, or it was just not called period. Bottom line is just another situation to add to an already cunberson rule book.

Vince Lombardi would have. He said he never lost a game. He only ran out of time.
