If you get drunk in a bar, aren`t you technically, "in public"???

Not sure exactly what he did, but doesn`t sound like he was pissing in public(Public indecency, like a former player)...

Or beating up towel dispensers(vandalism, like a former player)...

Or almost running over cops in a vehicle(Assault/resisting arrest/dui/fleeing.... etc, like a former player)...

Or driving around stoned(Dui, not sure what else, like a current player)...

Or, ummm... I dunno... there are many more, they just aren`t popping into my brain at the moment...

I think Santonio Holmes had something pot-related, right before we released him...

Then there are the domestic abuse/ sexual assault accusations.. etc, etc, etc..

This doesn`t sound like a big deal.

Now when they try to negotiate the new "Personal Conduct Policy", with the Player`s Union, things are going to get mighty tricky...

What is a "serious" violation of personal conduct???

    Murder?(Hernandez)... Conspiracy to commit murder/obstruction of justice?(Ray Lewis)...Vehicular homicide?(Dante Stallworth)...

Poor judgement/drank/smoked too much?(Pretty much 75% of the players in the league)...

    And everything in between...

Way more than 50 shades of grey, in trying to come up with this "Conduct Code"...

Yeah, sounds like the kid got drunk, and stumbled around outside...

    Move along.
    Nothing to see here...

Tomlin will hold him to the "standard"...

Just hope he doesn`t make him pick his own switch...:lolol:

    GO STEELERS!

But get punished much more lightly for "public intoxification", than if you got arrested for "driving under the influence"...

As it should be. (If you should get punished at ALL, for being "drunk in public")...

Just the tabloids, and media, selling their product, by creating a story...

Do you really think you would be reading about me, nationwide, if I just got arrested for trying to find my way home from the local watering hole, on foot, and not assaulting anyone, or anything along the way???

Personally, I call a cab nowadays, and I make quite a bit less than him...

So, his judgement may be called into question a bit...

But it also took me almost 2 of his lifetimes to learn those lessons...

I`ll give him a pass on this one...

    Here`s hopin` he learns from it;):drinks::herewego!:

No, TFF, I wasn`t goin all the way back to Fat`s days...

They didn`t have to deal with the 24/7 media cycle, and expect the papparazzi to be in their grille every second of their life...:smiley1:

Babe Ruth had it bad enuff... but MOST players still had some privacy in their lives...

    Unlike nowadays.

Yep easily get arrested for public intoxication. My question. Whats the B.A. Level for such an offense. They usually don't give you one but it is just a judgmental determination. How can they prove it?

I remember decades ago when I was in my early 20's, me and my buddy went out on the town determined to have a real good time, then do the responsible thing and call a cab. Halfway thru the cab ride my buddy determined that the guy driving was twice as drunk as we were. Even admitted to it cause he said that they would never pull over a cabbie. My buddy snatched his keys away and we made him sleep it off in the apartment complex parking lot. He gave his keys back in the morn.

When Ron White was arrested for PI he said "I was drunk in a bar. You THREW me in public." LOL. A guy I work with had a brother that got arrested because he was drunk at his house and he lived in a condo and his wife was arguing with a neighbor and the law got called and he went out to see what was going on and then, under the law, he was technically publicly intoxicated. He then got really mad but had to go to jail anyway. If only he had been shirtless it would have been the perfect episode of Cops.

There isn't a minimum level in CA for 647(f)PC which is public intoxication. The Officer needs to articulate that the person is under the influence of an alcoholic beverage and cannot properly care for their safety. That can be accomplished by demeanor (ie loud aggressive etc) followed with red and watery eyes slurred speech unable to stand still without swaying. So you could be really buzzed and get hooked for it. This charge usually hinges on these signs with demeanor being the capper. A PBT whch is a field breath test can be administered but isn't required.

I have personally made hundred of these arrest and it's usually a drunk person who won't go home with their buddies, causes a disturbance and refuses to calm down or is aggressive to the point they are trying to fight someone.

It's a very minor charge in the justice system and is no where near a DUI in fines penalties etc. If fact the county I worked in we could book for 4-6 six hours and the person would be released without charges (Which is usually the route I liked).

I'm guessing without knowing the facts at all he was drinking and got a little rowdy, thus the safest decision for the cop is to hold for public intoxication

I'm not sure about your area but in CA if you are in the view of the public (ie in your front yard) you can be arrested. Also if you are having a party open the public (Again in CA) then you are in public even if that party's at your own house.

The Liar can't pry himself out of his secret bunker with his BFF Kraft. The longer the Liar can put off the Deflate gate report the better. The report will be inconclusive due to the fact they can't find the elusive needle.

Blake made a mistake. I don't know what if any games off he will get. I am more worried about Bell getting 4 games not 2.

if your arrested you are arrested no matter how minor. they put clauses in contracts for a reason. this is not the time to be arrested if your an NFL player no matter how minimal. they are under the microscope at this point and making a concerted effort to not have this news being in the public eye. the steelers now have had since the crackdown so to speak 3 players arrested. bell, blount and now blake. I'm sure goodell is going to mention something to them and so may the rooneys to MT. just bad timing.

It matters in determining what kind of punishment is meted out. This is probably a non punishable offense, I don't even think Goodell will do anything about this one. It's ridiculous he was even arrested, the report doesn't say he was being rowdy or causing a disturbance, he was just outside a bar after, shockingly, drinking in it. According to some of the posts in this thread, he could have been arrested on his own property.

To each their own but this is a non issue for me and I file it under :bscow:

The problem isn't necessarily walking on the sidewalk drunk..... it's that he was probably talking, walking and drunk. Just shut up and get home..... silly kids.

Isn't being drunk on the porch in OK a requirement by law?
