I thought for sure the Steelers may have been active
this year, I am disappointed they did not try to get someone
to help them on defense. I think to compete against the GB's, NE, SF,
Houstons of the world they need help. Oh well just my opinion.

No need to trade. There is a very good younger generation on the team now that given the opportunity will flourish.. The problem with this organization is they let guys sit on the bench in favour of the older vets.

why would this year be any different than most other years.

the Steelers just dont do business that way. they rely on their drafts and small free agent signings during the offseason.

How many trades took place this year?
    Last year?
    The year before?

With a little more experience, you'll get used to it.
Football is not like other sports - baseball(162 games), hockey(82), basketball(82) - where you can just plug in a player, and he'll be in-sync with the team after a couple games.
Football is about the 'system', and it'll take at least 2-3 games for that player to really know what's going on.
At this point of the season, teams cannot wait for players to adjust.
Plus, you have to give, to get.

The last in-season trade I remember us making (I may be wrong, and many of you weren't born yet.) was Paul Seymour(sp?), look how that turned out.

Some people have spent years watching football but still don't "get it"

Based on the so called fact that it takes so long to learn our defense, what makes anybody think that a player could come in and be an impact this season?

I'm sure the Steelers would have loved to trade. But, they lack cap room to do any trades with a big name or high dollar player.

I noticed the Patriots traded for Aqib Talib of the Dolphins who was pretty highly rated coming out of college. I hate the Cheatriots but they always seem to be willing to build their team by any means necessary whether it be the draft, free agency, the waiver wire or making trades. Sometimes I wish the Steelers were a little more open to free agency and trades as a viable way to bring in talent.

FYI - Talib was a Buc before...with off the field issues and currently suspended.

They must have got him on the cheap and felt like he was worth the risk. What did they give up for him?
