After these divisional games, I like to go back and look at the gameday and forum threads of the opponents.

The gameday thread on Bleacher Report's Ravens page was quite disturbing for the amount of unfettered hatred being shared in there.

Also, went and had a chuckle on the Ravens Official website over the amount of crying over the calls/Non-calls which according tk most of them were painfully obviously in favor of an NFL script. No way were they letting the Steelers lose the game apparently.

You know, as I was watching, I could almost hear the Ravens fans complaining about the penalties (particularly that beautiful moment where they had 3 on one play).

I thought the refs called it well. In fact, the last few games I've been surprised by how well I think games have been called. Obviously in the heat of the moment I see any flag against us as a conspiracy to keep us from winning, but usually on replay it's like: yep, there it is.

I did want to see Suggs thrown out, and there were missed holds (and I'm sure there was a block in the back on a return - but does that only become illegal once the receiving team has started downfield?). But generally, I thought the penalty-calling was even-handed. The Ravens penalties went up during the game because they were getting more and more frustrated.

Anyways, back on the thread topic proper: were there any gems that stood out in particular?

I looked as well. Nearly every poster pretty much said the refs handed us the game and the refs are always on our side, even though we are one of the most penalized teams in the nfl. I also got a laugh at the James Harrison hate. Harrison, according to ravens fans is a dirty playing thug according to them, ohh the irony.

Like I always say, every teams fans think there is a conspiracy by the refs to make them lose. It's ridiculous. The problem with any conspiracy is that people can't shut their mouths, ever. There is no conspiracy. Goodell isn't instructing the refs to make calls against us. Goodell doesn't care one bit about the Pittsburgh Steelers. This isn't 2008 anymore. The refs don't want us to lose. Reffing is always going to be inconsistent, always has, and always will be. It's the nature of having human beings making calls. We have the benefit of angles the refs don't and we see things in slow motion. The refs are watching for 100 different thing and the game moves so fast, of course they're going to miss things. Also, there's holding on every single play somewhere on the field. The refs are going to miss it more times than not.

    Rant over

Yeah because the Refs made you, fumble a ball, throw a pick, and give up 6 touchdowns and your players are bunch of boneheads taking unsportsmanlike conduct flags. Yeah refs def. cost the Ravens the game.

Ravens fans as bad as Seahawks fans.

Ahh, some gems, keep in mjnd I'm goinngoff going off memory here...

One poster claimed the hit Harrison put on Flacco where he held his arms out and looked at the ref as if to say "I didn't drive him!", was as bad as the one in the first game when Upshaw lowered his head and hit with the crown.

There was one where the guy said he wished he could blow up Hienz Field like in the Batman movie. The funny part was another poster coming back with a rational "Without the deaths right?"

There were numerous references to hoping that injuries sustained were permanent and crippling. Those were usually laced with much profanity and wishes for death.

As bad as we are I've never seen us actually wish injuries were permanent with that kind of hate!

I also took a look at their site for some post game laughs haha I think they have some beef on the reviewed QB sneak by Ben. He didn't get the first down. Other than that I can't remember thinking we really got away with one. I can distinctly remember a pretty blatant PI not get called on the rats on 3rd down early in the game (when we had 0 first downs) and multiple holds on a short punt return by them. Calls get missed both ways.

We have far more class on this site. We don't wish for death or serious injuries. I gotta say though, I do like that they hate us so much that they want Heinz field to blow up. That's the kind of hatred that really brings out the best in rivalries.

I went and looked at their official forum as well and it was basically "man the refs just GAVE them the game!" and "Webb's contract is the biggest mistake this team has ever made!" Which is basically a mirror of what is said about Cortez Allen. That franchise is a special kind of classless and it runs all the way down from the top to the cesspool that is their fanbase. Anybody that could honestly cheer for gumby suggs tells me all I need to know about them. The same goes for ray rice and I would almost bet that there were some rice jerseys in the stands at Heinz the other night. Also I would bet there are lots of them in the stands at their home games. Have the rats even done a jersey exchange for him like the pats did for Hernandez? I can't remember if I've heard that or not. They would probably let you exchange the wife beaters jersey for the murderer ray lewis jersey. LOL.

Yeah. I'm not gonna lie. I despise that team. I don't like a single player that they have and I think that's how it ought to be in a rivalry. I was listening to Tomlin's presser when he said that "we've got a lot of respect for those guys" and I really wish he would say "we don't have ANY respect for those guys and the next time we play them we are gonna try to win by 40!" The fans would really get behind that statement and it would be my sentiments exactly. I was actually annoyed that Harrison was helping flacco up. That just didn't seem fitting for this rivalry and the old school Harrison wouldn't have done that. I guess he's just a gentle giant now. LOL.

Just shows to go ya that Ravens fans are just as paranoid about refs and conspiracies as Steeler fans.

I'd never go visit their message boards, never get the stench off of me.

The rats are a dirty vile team and so are a lot of their fans apparently.

I have to say, thats the most Ive got worked up in a game in a long time, dirty play will bring that out in me, I truly hate that team. And I'm quite happy at the misery that beating has caused their dullard fans :lolol:

In a way, I prefer it when we win by one point on a dubious call.

Because then I know, from bitter experience, just how much more frustrating it will be for them.

I'm not sure if that makes me classless or not.

Of course, in the meantime, I'll take 43-23 any day.

Stomp them! Period! And for those from their boards hoping for permanent injury?? Well good luck to you, I hope none of you need to take care of someone permanently injured.

Blast my exact feeling also. If you would look up pure hatred in my dictionary you would see a picture of the Ravens symbol. They even have an Iowa Hawkeye on the Ravens and I can't stand him since he plays for them!

I say stomp them, they are designed to beat us. Last few years, they've done that. Go back to Lamaar Woodley's comment. At the time, he was right. They couldn't get to the superbowl because the Steelers were winning the division and beating them in the playoffs. If the Steelers get back to winning the division, keeping the Rats out of the playoffs, they will implode.

The can complain all they want. the reality is, the penalties didn't give the Steelers 40 + points. And not only that, I cant recall a big spot foul (PI) that put us in scoring position. They had chances to stop the Steelers....and couldn't. Same as when we lost to them this year. We played poorly. Got beat soundly. And there was nothing a ref was gonna do to help us win that game, because the team was a big bag of suck that day. Same goes for the Ravens on Sunday.

Only a Ravens fan could watch his/her team get beat down. Lose by 20 points (and they were lucky it was even that close), and think it was the refs' fault. :tease::goofy:

Funny, when they beat the Steelers by 20 the fans on here were trying to figure out how to fix it, I.e., coaches, letting the rookies play, cutting half the team and getting younger. Ratbirds are a classless organization with classless fans. I mean, where did these fans come from when Cleveland moved the team?

Funny, I didn't really realize how deep my dis-like for the Ravens ran until this last Sunday. In the beginning of the game when we started slowly and Flunko was moving the ball I noticed myself cursing him out-loud. When they went for it on 4th down I was shouting at the TV about how cocky they are. In the middle of one of my rants I looked around the room and noticed my whole family staring at me. Fortunately, we started playing lights out or I think the game would have ended with me on an America's Most Wanted poster!

Flacco was gun shy in the pocket after Harrison slammed him to the ground, he was on the sideline checking his nose for blood. And the look on Suggs face at the end of the game was priceless.
