This came across yesterday in my text updates.
There reporter is not that reliable, so I sort of ignored it.

Weidl is probably better than Omar to be honest.
Khan is more of a 'capologist' it seems. Maybe that's not entirely fair, maybe Weidl's presence allows him to focus more on the cap.
Either way, Weidl is one I would like to see them keep.
I think the Washington Post writer embellished it more to gain clicks. That will happen.

It would be a huge loss if Weidl left now. He will make a solid GM. Hopefully he at the least stays another season.

he might be more valuable than Khan.

    Khan get a , what - C+. B-, for offseason, 2022?

Draft A, free agency, C? Signing Trubisky to an extension - tilted it WAAAAAY down, that was a F!

Weidle/Tomlin to Washington would be an interesting combination

I agree with this. I think Weidl is more the player personnel guru and Khan has been more of a numbers guy. I was hoping that Weidl would stick around for at least 3 years to work with Khan on the player personnel side.

Hmmm…first, the speculation linking Tomlin to Washington and now some speculation linking Weidl to Washington. Could Washington be thinking about a package deal? Should we be paying attention?

I blame Weidel for forcing Dotson to the bench and never giving him a chance to compete for his starting job.

I still think Dotson at RG and Daniels at center would have been our best setup.

Khan has a background in scouting, too, so he is more well-rounded than many realize.

I kinda blame Pat Meyer for playing Dotson out of position and being a pretty bad coach. I think once we have a better OL coach and a better offensive scheme this line can end up being a strength. But I do agree that moving Dotson to the right side and Daniels to C would've been a golden move.

To be fair, I used to think he was just a cap guy, too. I learned more about him when they were going through the hiring process for the GM job.

Not everyone here believes coaches make any decisions on the steelers.

I don’t know who is most important or who is making the key decisions but this past draft looks like the best one in many years. I hope they keep this front office team together for a while to see if they can keep that going.

I don’t know how anyone in this group knows what roles, and to what extent anyone has their skin in the game on any of this above the line stuff other than the obvious or has been directly said by the front office people themselves.

Even then I wouldn’t trust it much. They likely spin and leak any direct info to the media in the narrative they would like us to believe.

I read some comments here like you guys are in the rooms and meetings.

This captures it well! Anytime these types of topics come up, there is much talk about who is responsible for what and who has what authority. In the end, us fans really don’t know who truly holds the keys to the castle.

Where I work, you could ask many middle managers about who makes the bigger decisions and I know half or more would get it wrong.

I agree, but it's obvious who decides what OL player starts and who doesn't.

It's one thing if a coach refuses to play a highly drafted player, especially a QB, then ownership or the GM may get involved. Nobody is telling Tomlin where to play Dotson

    That is a coaching decision

I will be sad to see Weidl go if so chooses. That said, should he elect to, I wish him all the best. As for Kahn, just gotta hope he can right the ship; with or without Weidl.

Much like Flores, I didnt expect Weidl to be here long term anyhow.
