What you’ve stated here is reasonable and rational, especially the part about giving him another year and trying again in 2025 if he doesn’t figure it out. That said, I’m having enough doubts that I would consider taking a QB in the 2024 draft if the remainder of 2023 is more of the same. I want him to succeed, but I’m having trouble seeing it.

Your poor reading skills are still hampering you. If I was giving up on the guy, why would I care about giving him a reset? Anybody with a clue reading that those comments understood that it was about just that moment, not giving up on him long term.

People have been talking about benching him all over the place. Also, I was explaining why it made no sense to make a declaration either way right now because they aren't going to bench him for one of those two long term.

Seriously, are you just trolling or are you really this lost?

Do you mean they should consider taking a quarterback in the first round or just at some point in the draft? Those are very different investments. I don't have a problem with them drafting another quarterback next season, but I have a hard time seeing them doing it in the first round.

Hell, I wouldn't have minded them double-dipping at the position last year the way Washington did with Griffin and Cousins. I certainly wasn't sold on him. I really didn't want them wasting a first-rounder on Willis, but Hill or Linderbaum would have been my preferences. I still think he can get get there for a couple of reasons. One is the fourth-quarter comebacks. The other is that he took some time to figure it out in college, too.

It would be crazy to give up on Pickett at this point. The O line is holding the entire team back. The defense stays on the field too long because the O line can't execute as a unit, consistently.

First round; maybe even trading up. I know it sounds reactionary, but how many QBs in this era take until their 3rd season as a starter in the NFL to really “get it” and show clear progress? If he’s the same guy at the end of this season, I think it raises serious questions. There needs to be clear progress over the latter half of the season. He has led some 4th quarter comebacks, but he did that last year as well, and there are just too many instances where he leaves key plays on the field independent of scheme or protection deficiencies.

Again, to be 100% clear, what I’m saying is he needs to show clear progress that allows someone to reasonably say at the end of the season “he’s definitely a better QB now than he was at the end of last year.” There needs to be progress. He doesn’t need to be a Pro Bowler by year-end, but there needs to be a clear arrow pointing up.

If they are going to take a QB in the first round next year, then they had better be even more aggressive in free agency than they were this year. They would also have to knock the draft out of the park to fill the holes this team currently has.
Then we had better hope they knock the next O.C. hiring out of the park, which is doubtful if you were to ask some around here. Heaven forbid your shiny new QB doesn't work out and I'm pretty sure this place would be simply unbearable.
I guess what I'm saying is that there is a lot of talk about the problems with this organization from the owner all the way down through each and every coach. Not to mention weaknesses at other very important positions. I wouldn't expect for all of those to change in one off-season but if a few of them don't, it's not going to matter who they put back there at QB.

Kenny will get a 3rd season to prove if he sucks or not. Canada will be gone next year. MT might be too, who knows.

but if we lead the league in 3 and outs, and our O is in the bottom 5 again next year, then Kenny won't be the starter in 2025.

How is that for some prognostication?

I get that and it is reasonable, though I don't entirely agree. I can't see them trading up for a quarterback next year, mostly for the reasons stated above. I also don't see anything that is happening as being independent of scheme and protection deficiencies. I think those things pile up and affect what a quarterback does even when they have time and the design of a particular play doesn't suck.

I never said you said long term you dimwit....I even said you might have said one or two games (even though you didnt mention the # of games)...does that sound long term you douche???? My point was that you would even suggest it at all not even a quarter of the way through the season even if it was for the rest of that game. A reset requires true incentive to change. There is none. He knows he has no competition backing him up and at minimimum all of the rest of this year to continue to crap the bed which is why nothing has changed four games since. Now whose reading and comprehension needs a brush up??

Then you try and make up this lie that someone seriously suggested that Pickett be benched for Rudolph/Trubisky for the remainder of the season, but can't name one person who said it...yet there's people all over the place saying it?? You make up ish as you go is what you do, probably projecting, and then when you get caught in a story you've conjured up you start blaming it on imaginary people. Maybe it's you that's misinterpreting what those people are saying if they even suggested it??

Not sure but I think Mike's still has another season on his contract? Why I say Canada gone this year and Mike will not get "fired" but decide not to stay with Steelers after 2024. Now that is my guess but all bets are off should we be playing a game in February 2025.

Are people really gloating??? I don't see it. I truly want KFP to be our Qb for the next 10 - 12 years, but it doesn't mean I don't see the bad plays. Hell I'm the Guy saying He must have another year after this one before they make the decision.
If just 3 throws where on target Sunday....we had a chance at scoring 21 points in the 1st half.....just 3 throws. Yes DJ dropped one, but if it was thrown better it could have been 6 points...if He had actually caught it the way it was thrown... it would have only been a big 1st down.....which I would have loved . LoL.

If MC is the main problem, then I say the main problem is the individual(s) who allowed this main problem to continue to be a main problem. Responsibility goes up, not down. JMO>

I like Pickett but he just looks like Tim Couch to me. Tough kid who shows flashes but not consistently good.
