I definitely wasn't comparing what Burfict did to what Cody Wallace did.
I was agreeing that some fans are blind to the obvious.

I'm not blind to it, Glenn, I just understand why Wallace did what he did. The football field is a harsh place at times and when you see your number one guy get stood up and pummeled, you react. Wallace got mad and reacted and even though it was misguided, his motives were right. Burfict's motives were pure evil!

Yeah, he really didnt though. This is just the kind of stuff Cincy fans make up. He might of stood him up, but he wasnt pummeled and they were really just trying to strip the ball, good play by them. There was no whistle.

Again Wallace did something dirty and some fans think it's ok. But it's not.

If Wallace hit the guy in question maybe it's a little easier to justify, but he hit the wrong guy. Fail!

Hey your buddy hit my buddy so I'm going to hit you, even though you're standing there minding your own business. Childish high school crap.

That's fine guys but many of Wallace's teammates said Wallace was simply trying to protect AB when he was vulnerable and took a helmet to helmet shot. David DeCastro said AB was hit late and that Wallace was PROTECTING and REACTING. AB himself said he appreciated what Wallace did and referred to him as a leader and a GREAT teammate. I agree with them.

I don't know why you keep citing what his teammates said, as if they'd say anything else. Guess Burficts teammates that supported him must mean his hit wasn't dirty either.

Don't know why you keep discounting what his teammates say since they're the guys that go to battle with Wallace every day and are much better qualified to speak to his motives and his character than you are when you want to do nothing but call him a dirty player and disparage his character. I think we all agree after the fact that his hit was misguided but, as DeCastro said, he was reacting in the heat of battle. Cut him some slack!

Protect him from who? He hit a guy that wasn't doing anything to AB. Total B.S. move. Just because he thought he was sticking up for a teammate doesn't make what he did right or honorable.

Ask his teammates, Glenn. They're the ones who said it! Nobody is saying it was honorable, but it was understandable in the heat of battle when you think your best player and valued teammate was stood up and pummeled.

Because they are his teammates and should have his back. You expect them to call him dirty? You're acting no different then Cincy fans.

What about digging his hand up that guys ass, wasn't a dirty move either, naaaa (no pun intended :lolol:)

You keep singing his praises then you give me the "ask his teammates" line? You've made it clear that those are your feelings too.

Breaking rules in the name of "sticking up for a teammate" isn't a great reason. And for the 10,000th time he didn't even hit the guy that tagged AB.
By the way was any of those Denver guys flagged or finned on that play? Didn't think so.

I'm not a teammate, I'm just a fan but I've got his back too. I've already said his hit was misguided and if he'd had a few minutes to consider the repercussions he probably wouldn't have done that. Unfortunately on the football field you don't have that luxury and you're just reacting. As for the on field prostate exam, there is MUCH WORSE that takes pace at the bottom of NFL piles every week. He was trying to win the game for the Steelers and I have NO problem with what he did there. If you want a nice clean polite sport, Blast, maybe you should consider women's figure skating.

Singing his praises? Hardly! My entire point is that in retrospect it wasn't the right move but it is UNDERSTANDABLE given the situation. At full speed it appeared that AB was stood up and the Bronco player nailed him with a helmet to helmet shot. That's what Wallace saw and he reacted to that. You and Blast want to put the Wallace incident on the same level as the Burfict assault and it's just not the same.

Maybe I'm making this too simple in my pea brain.

Its sixth grade and you are out in the schoolyard at recess. A bully pushes your friend. The bully is wrong and he's a bad guy. You defend your friend by pushing the bully back. You probably get in trouble, but everyone respects you for defending your friend. On the other hand, you do nothing when your friend gets pushed, you wait until it suits your convenience and you later push the bullies friend. In my opinion, your just another bully.

When AB was hit, someone should have immediately responded. Right or wrong, instant response.

Not on the same level as Burfict. The whole point was what Lizard said in his post. That fans are blinded by their devotion to the team.

And you're kinda stating the obvious in regards to doing something in the heat of the moment. Luckily it was just a football game. You don't get many do overs in those situations in real life. How would you fell if a guy sucker punched you? Would it be ok because it was the heat of the moment? Would you understand?

I think I know what you're trying to say and you are correct, ideally had Wallace hit the guy that hit AB it would have been better. I think he was looking for orange in the pile and wasn't very discriminating when he got there. He just knew his guy was roughed up (in his mind) and he was there to deliver retribution to the orange jerseys. Not the smartest thing but understandable and I think there are those who are being way too hard on him for sticking up for a teammate.

That's a great scenario, but nobody hit the bully.

Exactly. That was my point of the last sentence. Hit the bully.

Not only that, but the guy who hit AB wasn't a bully, it was a football play you see all the time. Funny how Jack likes rough football accept when it involves our guys, maybe he should pull up a chair and watch some women figure skating himself.
