True, but for what, 3, 4 games - and on the heels of PICKETT SUCKING for 2 seasons.

if Russ Wilson did not get thru to him, well.....we can figure that out.

Russ is the consummate professional, future HOF'r

That doesn’t mean he got through to Pickens, by all accounts Mason did.

Yes, the goal post has moved. Post draft the Steelers are looking at a Brandon Aiyuk situation, where a player does not want to play on the final year of his contract. The NFL does allow rookies on their final year to renegotiate their deal with the team that drafted them.

I look for the Steelers to announce they have given permission to Pickens to talk to other teams about a trade offer like the 49ers did with Aiyuk last year.

    FYI>
    Google AI Overview
NFL rookie contracts cannot be renegotiated until after the player's third season in the league. This is a fixed and unalterable part of the NFL's collective bargaining agreement (CBA). Drafted rookies cannot have their contracts renegotiated until after their third season, and undrafted rookies must wait until after their second season.

    This is not true :bscow:

    Steelers regularly do it

    T J Watt for example

    RENEGOTIATIONS
Rookie contracts for drafted players can't be renegotiated or altered in any way until after the last regular-season game of the third contracted year. Undrafted rookies must wait until after their second season to amend a contract. Any rookie contract that is renegotiated or extended in any way is no longer considered a rookie contract and is not restricted by the rules governing such contracts.

All I can say is a motivated Pickens, and a healthy DK can mean a lot of help for a Qb

I never remember the Steelers announcing that they had given permission to TJ Watt to start talking to teams about a trade offer???

I remember TJs "Hold In", but not permission to talk to another team.

Wait for it, because you are going to hear that Pickens has been given permission to talk to other teams about a trade and new contract.

So, you said the Steelers do this regularly, so when was the last time the Steelers announced that they were giving permission for a player to seek a trade offer?

I'm missing something. He said rookie contracts cannot be renegotiated until the player's final year (i.e., after their third season, which is correct) - but you're saying that isn't true, while attaching the rule that states rookie contracts can't be renegotiated until after the player's third year.

Maybe I haven't had enough caffeine yet.

Some of the fanbase has been projecting their dislike of Pickens onto the Steelers. I’ve been saying them and the fans are miles apart on how they feel about him.

The draft and now Woods just hammers that point home even more.

As opposed to throwing George Pickens to the wayside, how about seeing what he can do in 2025?! If he performs very well, he deserves to be compensated. If not, he is out. The 2026 NFL Draft will have much more Round 1 worthy WRs anyways. By my count, I already count six being worthy of a Round One Grade and will suspect that at least 10 will be taken within the first 60 picks. A great year to need a Wideout indeed.

It is one of the top position groups of the upcoming class.
