I got what you meant, Lizard.

Fact is, these goings on are going to have an impact on us at some point... it's kind of annoying to think that we're basically set at receiver, but have to worry about how long we can keep that corps together for.

You know they will renegotiate his contract after this season. This isn't like letting Wallace go. They'll want to lock him in before the going rate gets higher.

I thought the same thing, Lizard, when I saw what Dez and Demaryus received. If you packaged both of them and offered them to me for AB I wouldn't take it. The good news is we've got some very good young receivers on the roster which may take some of the pressure off in the negotiations for the Steelers. We've got to find a way to re-sign him when the time comes. He's on a HOF track at this point.

:lolol: I knew what you meant.

Correct. Steelers will negotiate with one year remaining but not 2.

    Yay salary cap...

this is how it always goes. Every year the cap goes up a little and guys will want more money. All of the sudden player X gets paid more than player Y and then the market is set at a higher rate. When guys like Flacco and Cutler get paid like studs, then it's tougher to sign really good young QB's to reasonable second contracts (Seattle will find this out with Wilson).

On topic... Dez is arguably the best, so his contract is fair IMO. AB is arguably just as good or better than Dez, so it's only logical to assume that his next contract will be the same or more expensive since it's going to be a couple years removed. If we don't pay him that price, somebody else surely will. This is part of the reason why I am really in favor of trying to work out an extension/raise sooner rather than later. The longer we wait, the more expensive he will be.

I'm with you. I'd take AB over both of them. Yesterday I told somebody that and they sorta looked at me like I was crazy but the fact is AB can catch anything you toss him, he has a good attitude, he works like a dog, he returns kicks, he runs great routes, he finds ways to always get open, he keeps his feet in bounds, and he even kicks Cleveland players in the face. He is EVERYTHING you could hope for in a WR and a Steeler. Give me AB and keep those "high profile" guys on your team. Come week one his streak will continue and Dez and Thomas will both be chasing him.

And...the Steelers don't have to assign AB two babysitters, er, bodyguards to go around watching his every move and keeping him out of trouble.

Is why you need good cheap guys at depth like DHB. Every position can't have high priced players and if they can't play the way they get paid it hurts the Team bad .Case in point is Cortez he robbed the Team , his next contract better be dirt cheap.

Lol, you forgot to put this part in green BFT.

I love AB, but had he kept his toe in bounds against Miami in the snow... that would have been one of the most entertaining plays in football ever.

Yeah I agree. Cheap veterans and guys on rookie deals really help the cap when they become good starters or valuable depth (like Foster, DHB, W. Allen). Let's you spend the money elsewhere. But if Cortez doesn't turn his play around, there won't be another contract... They will just replace him with someone else.

I think after this season he still has 2 years. His contract runs through 2017.

Oh yeah! Man I seriously STILL get mad just thinking about it! I guess the only reason I can SORTA forgive it is because ultimately Ben was probably way past the line of scrimmage when he threw it to him. I honestly screamed so loud at the tv during that play that I will probably never match that decibel level again.

I'm trying to forget about the game where the South Beach Sissies came to Piitsburgh and beat us in a Steel Town snowstorm and I come here and I'm reminded once again.

Yeah that was a definite low point. I don't know whether the Tebow debacle can ever be topped for me, but yeah that was pretty embarrassing too.

Another horrific memory is a particular loss against the Raiders I believe it was. I think the Raiders had like a total of 45 yards in total offense and 2 first downs in the entire game, or something absurd....and beat us. Had something like 2 pick 6's and a fumble return for a TD. I wanted to break everything in my immediate area lol.

Ugh, getting Tebow'd was definitely a low point as a Steelers fan. This particular moment left a worse taste in my mouth, though. Maybe just because the wound hasn't had as much time to heal.

Dude it's even WORSE for me that we got Tebow'd because everybody at work was like "YOU'RE A PREACHER! YOU SHOULD BE ROOTING FOR TEBOW!" Ahhhh the logic of people that aren't Steelers fans. LOL!

I believe that was a game against the Texans a few years back when Maddox was our QB. The Steelers dominated statistically and still lost the game. Pathetic.
