Unfortunately you may be right. Seems like we've let backups no better than that beat us before. I've learned to not overlook teams because of this fact.

I remember cowhers team dropping some gimme games but not as often and not with a franchise qb at the helm. Maybe I'm wrong.

Losing to the Chargers in the AFC championship game? Terrible loss. There were many, but unless your last name is Walsh or Johnson (Jimmy), every coaches loses games they should not. The Steelers are certainly not the greatest offenders in this category. Not by a long shot.

Yeah I thought we should have won that one but I thought the chargers had almost as good a record as we had that year. Seau had a monster day if I remember correctly.

It's actually possible for Steelers to get in at 9-8

Not with Miami, Buffalo, New York, and New England all owning tie breakers. It makes the possibility almost an impossibility. Plus going 4-1 against the NFC is going to hurt us against teams we don't play.
10-7 and there's still a chance we don't make it.

Well a tie breaker only happens with a tie. One or two of those teams may have a worse record afterwards.

There are currently 12 teams at 5-7 or better. On the chance we win out, that means we are ahead of Cleveland and Las Vegas, so 10 teams for 7 spots. 2 game against the Ravens, they get one more loss (Browns, Falcons, and Bengals) we beat them with the tiebreaker. We win out and Cinci ****s the bed and loses three, we'll win on division record.
Chargers need two losses, as they'll have the tiebreaker with a better division record. Patriots need two losses, they have the head to head tiebreaker. Jets need three losses, head to head tiebreaker. Miami would have to go 1-4, Chiefs and Buffalo are out of reach.
So, much like last year, we have a chance, but we need help. I don't think we stand a chance at 9-8, all tiebreakers are against us.

Just a note: According to NFL.com, Miami, Cinci, and the Jets have three of the hardest schedules, with the Ravens at #6.
