The way I see it is that average starters and above average starters are difficult to draft. Teams are not going to hit it out the ball park every time in the 1st round. So, I'll take and accept an average starter over players like Jones and Burns.

Come on now boy's there were also many a fan who thought Mike Mitchell was better than he was, bought into his I study film so I know everything scam and sided with him that it was a declining Troy P that caused his bad play and not the fact that he was overwhelmingly average. So Edmunds is in good company with the fan base.

that’s generally the case with most complaints about players.

Edmunds and Rudolph are the scapegoats and whipping posts around here. It's pathetic. Tomlin and Roethlisberger deserve the abuse. All of it.

Considering each team starts two safety then that means he’s in the top half.

Correctly pointing out that Rudolph did not get the job done in 2019 is not making him a scapegoat. The 2020 season was far more disappointing and he had no part in that.

I'm not sure who is blaming Edmunds for the team's struggles. He is an average player who was drafted way too high. The team made the right call passing on his fifth-year option, and they should only re-sign him for a team-friendly deal.

Sorry, but Tomlin and Roethlisberger deserve plenty of criticism, but all of it? It seems to me that you are the one looking for scapegoats.

The Steelers will offer him an average contract for NFL strong safeties. He'll be an RFA, right? He'll probably sign because I can't see another team giving him more money and losing a compensatory pick. Honestly, if he would just make the tackles he is supposed to make, I'd be happy. He takes bad angles to the ball carrier. To me, anything above and beyond him becoming a reliable tackler would be gravy.
