It's being reported that the Pirates have acquired lefty reliever Josh Walker from the Mets. He was recently DFA'd by New York. His ERA is north of 5.00 this year. I hope he can hit.:) There's no word on who the Mets will receive in return.

I think it is until 6:00 tonight EST. I'm thinking Bobby is counting his money and has made all the deals he is going to.

I'm hoping the Angels give us Mike Trout for our entire triple A and double A teams plus two bridges. Not Roberto's. :rolleye:

    Still 2 games over 54-52.

Hey guy, hope all well in life and with business!! Not many faithful Pirate fans around these boards. We can't afford to lose one.

Just when I thought the Pirates were not going to do much, they pulled the trigger on not one but two trades! Bryan DeLaCruz from the Marlins and Isiah Kiner-Falafel or something from the Blue Jays (I think). They didn’t give up anyone I ever really heard of. The guy from Toronto plays several infield positions as well as CF and can hit. This is two significant improvements in two areas where they needed it. May be the last we ever see of Triolo, Suwinski is in Indy, and Grandal has probably been sweating bullets that they would get a catcher who could hit.
DeLaCruz is a real upgrade at the plate, not so much defensively.
They also sent Martin Perez to the Padres for an 18 year old pitcher who has only tossed a few innings professionally. Looks more like a salary dump to me.

I always think Grandal is safe cause he catches Skenes. I don't mind losing Perez but I thought he pitched better then his numbers showed. Pirates love getting players that can play multiple positions, saves Bobby money.

I want to get super excited about the Bucs but due to past years I am always waiting for the other shoe to drop.

We have pitching and it seems these guys are feeling something and no it's not Paul's lady. We shall see.

Tell you what they win tonight with Jake Woodford making his first start for us, I'll start believing in miracles. He has not had a good start with his career but he's a Buc now;)

I don’t know why they would do this, unless they have seen something far beyond what he did with the White Sox earlier this season. Does a coach or someone in the front office have some previous relationship with Woodford?
He pitched one game for the White Sox and was gluteally pummeled, WHIP of 2.400.
Still, the Bucs are 13-5 in their last 18 games.

Saving big guns against DB's over weekend? Funny - CBS Sports shows Keller starting both Saturday AND Sunday. Been a while since we've seen that. :drinks:

Would have been so sweet having a day off after a sweep:( If we truly are staying in the Playoff hunt we need big homestand.

And such a winnable game and unexpected series sweep. You look up "sh*t-show" in the dictionary and you'll see Cruz's box score from last night - 3 errors + 3 strikeouts. That's about as bad as it gets in baseball. Holderman's last 2 outings were right up there with Cruz - 1.1 innings - 4 hits (2 HRs, 1 3b), 3 runs (1 inherited run). Shameful. :puking 5:

Well our starting pitching looks solid against the DB's. Ortiz/Keller/Skenes. Let's win all 3:)

The fact that Altuve only comes up to Cruz's knees - imagine pitching to both of them? Anyone who pitches anything to Cruz in the strike zone should be immediately banned from baseball. Sanguillen was a very good bad ball hitter, Cruz not at all. When he does connect, and has done so a lot recently (except for Wednesday night), he is Superman. When he doesn't, he's Jimmy Olsen.

Edit - I correct myself - just saw that "He was 1 for 13 with nine strikeouts and five errors over the three games in Houston". I guess I was thinking the prior series. That's really bad.

Well, time to see how the acquisitions pan out. Looking forward to seeing this lefty Beeks pitch. He can really eff with left handed hitters. It is good to get someone who does one thing really good, then use that one thing to the team’s advantage.

Great start - first batter triple and run on Cruz throwing error. 2nd batter HR. Third batter HR. 4th batter HR. 5th batter, infield single. 5 up and 4-0 already. Ortiz - you kidding me??????:facepalm::facepalm::facepalm::facepalm:

Wild pitch and a walk. 2 on and still no outs. Looks like a bullpen game unless Mgr lets Ortiz fall on his bayonet.
