Am I a homer for wishing they had taken Jordan Addison? Or does him bailing on Pitt to play elsewhere his junior season negate that?

This Addison story is intriguing. I do wonder what NFL scouts will think about these college kids transferring for NIL deals. Will scouts/GMs be indifferent or will they look at this as a character issue? I'd hope that they'll be indifferent. Addison wasn't the first and won't be the last kid to do this. It just begs the question of I just wonder. lol

I'm not sure they will care. I hope the Steelers don't. Even with them spending two picks on receivers this year, I would love to see Addison in Black and Gold. I like Pickett, but Addison was the best player on that team in 2021. There have been some great receivers who came through the Pitt program over the last 30 years. The only one better than Addison was Larry Fitzgerald, and the gap there isn't huge. I give Fitz the edge because he was more of a physical mismatch and because he had a lesser quarterback throwing him the ball.

Addison is a superstar and unfortunately USC has more NIL money than Pitt can offer. This sucks for Pitt. Maybe Aaron Donald, Larry Fitzgerald can talk to Addison? Or The guy who owns the Carolina Panthers he is a Pitt alum, not too many people in the world could match him in NIL money. LOL

If the rumors are true, Pitt was able to match what USC offered; so, there's more to the story. I think it had more to do with the new OC and a new QB, plus another WR (Mumpfield) getting into the mix.

That's 9 spots lower than @SDOT has them picking next year.

The issue will be worked out, the real problem is the long list in the portal. Scholarship are limited and not guaranteed, short term will crimp development of those younger guys coming up. Landscape definitely going to change

Perhaps it's just hope on my part, but I feel much better about the 22 campaign than I did after the draft last year. I think the outcome will relatively be the same, 9-8ish season and drafting around 20/21.

Nothing has been confirmed as far as USC offering Addison anything, just rumors at this point.

If Slovis can get back on track, Addison would have a chance for a big season.

NIL is becoming a cluster f@@@ very quickly. I have no issue with it except it was not thought out at all. The NCAA fought it then essentially buried its head in the sand on the issue. To many things to discuss in a rant lol, and eventually it will have to have some regulating board, but until then it will be interesting to see how the college landscape changes.

For sure. I could offer my opinion on what needs to happen to change this, but it would completely derail this current thread. A different thread in a different forum.

They basically turned the NCAA into the MLB without a salary cap. Only the large market teams or teams with massive boosters will compete now. The quality of the game will suffer now.

Plus a quality RB tandem in Hammonds and Izzy. I put Pitt's starting 11 on O against any defense in the nation. Where Pitt falls short of teams like Bama and OSU is depth.

That's what most teams fall short with teams like OSU, Georgia, LSU, and Bama. You can hang for awhile, but depth usually is the downfall every time.

    Really?! Interesting.

Georgia, Clemson and Texas A&M would like to have a word with you. For that matter, losing Jordan Addison is a major ouch..
