He isn't worth that much, and there have been players that's taken less to stay here.. bet he doesn't get 8 sacks next year..lol

2 million per sack. Seems to be the going rate these days

He would have had to take a lot less and that just isn't a realistic expectation. Let the venting of sour grapes begin!

It sucks to see him and Feiler go, but neither is a surprise.

Here’s a kicker. If you were TJ Watt would you sign with the Steelers seeing where they are headed?

I would think if they don't keep AV you'd think they start Chuks on the left Banner on the right or if they have an impressive rookie then maybe they crack the starting lineup. I think we can assume that they had some inkling of Fieler leaving and are panicking and talking to AV.

WE are going to sit here the whole off season and into the season saying if only the pandemic hadn't wiped out any chance to keep a few of these guys but the realistic was that some bad deals in the last half dozen years led to this and not just the reduced cap.

Yes because eventually there will be money to be made and lots of it while still playing in a scheme that suits him.

If you are the Steelers you have to do whatever it takes to resign TJ Watt. If they don't their very loyal fan base will turn on them rather quickly. We haven't had an impact player of his nature since Troy Polamalu.

I was hoping against hope that they’d find a way but knew it wasn’t likely. I’m more disappointed than I thought I’d be. Just coming into his own and the Titans are going to reap the rewards.

Silver lining at least. I wasn’t even thinking about that.

Fieler at $7 mil/yr is a surprise. That should qualify for no worse than a 5th next year. Take Dupree’s third and add juju and hilton, connor and possibly AV (who I believe we'll re-sign) and we could be looking at a lot of draft picks next year.

Bud won't have the same success in Tennessee that he did here. Not saying that it will be like the first 3 seasons where he was known as Dud Dupree but without a TJ Watt type player opposite him he will not see the same results. I predict he will fade away the way many players who leave our team during FA do.

Carlos Hyde 2 yr / 6 million with Jags. Not as affordable as I was thinking.

PFF had him down for $8m a year iirc, if the Chargers put him back at RT and he performs well like he did for the Steelers in the past it’s a good deal for them.

Steelers should get the maximum four compensatory picks next year all going well

The players now have different mentalities than they did in the past. Now everyone is about their brand and worrying about their own self interests. You have a select few who don't but that's the trend these days. And you're worth whatever someone is willing to pay you. The market warranted that he got that deal.

I thought he would get the minimum but not a bad move by urban Meyer and Co.

Not just Watt, but Tuitt and Heyward, too. The Titans had 19 sacks last year. They need more than just Bud or they're going to be sorely disappointed.

With Ola likely on the way out and needing depth, what about picking up Takk Mckinley?

Former first rd pick in 2017, Steelers had him in for a visit. Myself and several others here were high on him during the draft process.

That’s a fan thing, not a player thing.

How loyal would you be to your job if a competitor offered you a 50% raise?

Ben's back and 2 project QBs fighting for the #2 slot. I was figuring the 4th QB would be a camp arm.

Another WR? I guess Fitz would be a good pickup to get the meeting room back in line.
