The dropped interception (actually I think 2 dropped ints if I recall correctly) didn't figure into that passer rating. He gave Green Bay the game in the 4th quarter and they dropped the gift. And oh by the way... Vick had a 95.7 passer rating last night against Baltimore starters who were playing for their season. So, I'm not sure how impressive Jones' 96.8 was against scrubs.

Anyway, I need to be done with this discussion because I really detest Vick and don't want to keep sounding like a Vick fan. For the record, I think both of our backup QBs are a problem, I just think Vick is the better of two crummy options from a football perspective.

Except he threw for about 70 more yards when you minus Vicks OT yardage and one more TD. Not saying he gave a HOF performance, just saying he has shown enough to warrant a chance.

I agree, the situation sucks and would prefer neither get near the field, I guess I just don't understand the fear of Jones getting a shot. The one good thing Vick did do last night was not turn the ball over, wait until that starts happening.

While Vick bogged down from the mid third quarter on, he did just enough (protected the ball, 1 TD pass, high completion pct) to help us win the game. He floated a pass at the most crucial point in the game but the loss isn't on him. It's on piss poor coaching and pathetic kicking.

Having said that, I wouldn't mind seeing Tom Landry Jones get the start to see what he can do with the first team weapons.

Guess I have higher expectations because I thought he was terrible, I expect more than that stat line. Tebow gets killed for those numbers.

And while I agree that Bell should have gotten the ball, the one play call would have worked if Vick could complete a 5 yard pass. Vick is a huge reason they lost.

And can we stop patting Vick on the back for protecting the ball, its what hes supposed to freaking do.

Missed FGs is the biggest reason they lost.

I think Vick is being asked to not lose games, not win them. He didn't lose the game last night. You rightly pointed out that the missed FGs were the biggest reason they lost followed closely by questionable coaching decisions.

But isnt that exactly what they did when they put the ball in his hands on two 4th down plays? They better stop acting like he is Ben and treat him for what he is, a backup QB. And even know Vick should have completed that pass, asking a left handed QB to make that throw was stupid of the coaches.

I think Vick need to be up around 200 yards, I think thats asking him not to lose games. Hell, I think without OT, Vick was probably around 100 yards. I do think he will do better next week but its only a matter of time before he starts turning the ball over.

Had AB held onto the pass in the end zone, he'd have had at least 36 more yards and another TD and who knows what that would have done for Vick's confidence and his chemistry with AB. Nobody will mistake Vick for Ben, but considering he's only been with the team a little over a month and found out Sunday he's the starting quarterback, he did okay.

Coulda woulda shoulda. We'll have to disagree as usual. Hes going to have to do better than "ok" if we want to even win one game in Bens absence.

I wouldn't mind putting Jones out there to see what he can do with the big boys instead of the JV team he's always played with. It's time we determine once and for all what we have in him and what better time than now. Vick's one big hit away from that anyway.

This I agree with, time to put on the big boy pants, this is what you drafted him for and presumably have been holding a roster spot for.

I will say this. A lot of people are dogging on Tomlin (poor choice of words?) for bringing in Vick BUT if Grad hadn't gotten hurt Vick would have been watching the game at home with the rest of us. Which is odd that a qb who would have been home watching the game if not for an injury can still get the start over a qb that has been on the roster for a few years now... Sigh...... What to make of it? What to make of it?

Vick passing for 124 yards isn't going to cut it, he needs to be in the 175-200 yards range for the team to win IMO.

MT wanted this guy and finally got him. there probably wouldn't have been a gradkowski if MT had his choice back then. i think with the limited time vick had here, it was a mistake to start him over LJ. it's a matter of experience over knowing the system better. LJ knows the system better and vick is still learning it but has NFL field time. that field time doesn't trump the knowledge of the system for vick. another brighter qb maybe. especially on a short week. LJ played a lot of ball in the preseason.

62 yards of total offense in the second half tells me that doesnt cut it in a NFL game, Vick reminds me of an old boxer, the mind says set your feet and throw a punch but the body wont respond, MV got off his reads too quick and was sacked 4 times because his mind said run but his legs didnt respond, too many technique errors on his part, and it's only going to get worse in the next game, with a decent QB we wouldn't have ever seen over time in this game.........

This does go to show how hard it is to find a decent QB.

As Don Shula said, "Sure luck means a lot in football. Not having a good quarterback is bad luck."

This is why I just couldn't get why the hell we signed him!!
I really, really, REALLY don't like the guy for what he did to those dogs. He's scum. But as far as is talent as a football player, I don't see what Tomlin saw/sees in him. He's not any good. Before, Vick scrambled a lot and was good at it. Since he's older now, he doesn't have the explosiveness or the speed to scramble like he used to & I don't think he's ever had much of an arm. So what exactly did we sign him for?

I have a friend you should meet. I gave her a few shooting lessons and she now has a wondering eye toward you know who. Her dog also sleeps on her bed.
