This should be moved, but I just can't figure where to move it.
If I understand your scenario correctly, it would be an incomplete pass. The receiver has to maintain possession/control of the ball.
I don't think he was receiving as much criticism last season, though I seem to recall 'Shut Up Clark' threads. :shrug:
