At the time he said it, he didn't have Bell or hell to unleash.
I don't know what to think about any of this Tomlin business anymore.
That makes as much sense as any other explanation...not much.;+) I think the FO is happy with Tomlin and the team on and off the field. When...
If that's the case, then the question remains: why give him any extension? He was already under contract for 2 more seasons.
I think he needed a change of scenery a couple seasons ago, then he might still be solid/serviceable.
If I was compartmentalizing, I'd leave that 3rd round pick as comp for Bell, so the Steelers at least get something out of that deal.
Yes, but he was already under contract thru the 2020 season. They didn't have to worry about extending him until the end of next season.
If they didn't plan on keeping Tomlin at least thru next season (despite the teams record) I don't think they would have extended him.
Because Ben (seemingly out of no where) told the media he was contemplating retirement. Why they didn't draft one in an earlier round, I don't...
I agree it wasn't a bad move (and won't be, as long as Bush pans out), I just hadn't put the L Bell comp pick into the equation.
Yinzer math.;+)
It was so cold my eyes were froze open. There was a lot of action in that game, I think it was Ben's first game with 500+ passing yards. It was...
I was at that game. That play was great, but it would have meant so much more if they hadn't been eliminated from the playoffs the week before....
You had me, right up until 'Who ride'. (which is pretty much all of it, since 'who ride' is at the end)
He's the great defender of all things Tomlin. I like him.
Stupid.
Ben's last words before he goes under the knife for elbow surgery: "Keep Switz..."

3 games if you count Cincy last season (I'm not jumping the gun, just pointing that out).
