IIRC, Lance had a season ending injury and went to IR. Pickett has had injuries, but never to permanent IR.
Pickett will not be gone until 2025 at the earliest. Why would Steelers give up on him when he has 2 more "cheap" seasons left on his rookie...
I don't believe Wilson signed with Steelers to be a backup. If there's a fair competition for QB1 in preseason games... the edge goes to Wilson.
