    it's all relative.

there is a budget each team has - you and I pay for it - and then they entertain us. and they make LOTS of moola!!!

I think it's safe to say that JaMarr Chase, Deebo Samuel, Cooper Kupp, Jaylen Waddle, Tyreek Hill, and Justin Jefferson will all make the appropriate demands when the time comes.

What are you even talking about, DJ has made quite a few contested catches.

We are creatures of what we are lead to believe versus what is truth. In 2020 DJs drop rate was 13.2 per cent, in 2021 3.6 %. I think the thing holding g DJ back is not having a field stretching WR on the other side and no passing game to augment such a receiver. His targets may actually go down a bit of the passing game were more wide open, but I truly bieve his YAC would go up dramatically. Jmho, but the kid is a budding super star in the right system.

15 million a year would be an excellent contract to sign DJ for. I'd be in on this for sure.

Plenty. His issues appear to be focus related. Maybe stemming from having to think too much on his hot routes, etc. Easily worth the 15 million he's asking for.

He’s not a 1A WR. He’s only a #1 cause nobody is better on this team. 14mil and under sure but over that no thanks. Trade him while his stock is high.

Stats just don't back that assessment up.

DJ is top 10 in yards, receptions, and 16th in touchdowns. There are roughly 15-20 teams in the league that he would be the best receiver on. 15 million dollars a year would put him at the 17th highest paid WR in the league. That is more than fair, and probably a discount of sorts than what he could see in the open market. Trading him would be idiotic.

Not only would it put him at 17th now, he’d probably be in the 20’s a year from now. Yeah, crazy as it may sound a contract at a $15 million average isn’t bad for him.

Agree. Most "new" contracts tend to go higher as the salary cap goes up (they get paid at a percentage of the cap in a way). He would be an absolute steal at 15 per year. If that's what he wants, I would sign him for 5-6 years and smile as he outplays the crap out of guys getting paid 5-7 mil a year more than him on a yearly basis.

If DJ is really only asking for 15 million its all the more reason to keep him. He puts in the work and not a side show like Claypool and JuJu have been and apparently, he’s not all about the money either.

    That is hilarious!

I like DJ and really who is going to replace his production? You all think your paying him. They need to lock him up to a deal and they will have the coin to do so this season. Like it or not he is our #1.

Johnson has been a solid receiver the past 2 years and had 107 catches in 2021.
His value would be around $12 Mil per season.
He's a young player and has the potential be a solid threat.
He's going to be a $3 mil cap hit in 2022 as it is.

If I am GM, I'm probably going to find a way to get an extension for him.

No where near where Holmes and brown where at same point in their respective careers. Plus they were both dynamic on punt returns and way better after the catch. A team would need to be desprate to offer him top wr money. O

Yes, as long as an employer pays his employees a fair wage, the employer should reap the rewards. And they have been paying far more than a fair wage for many years.

How much money do you think the owners would make without the players?
How much would the players make without the owners?

Professional sports is a business built on a limited pool of talent and how that talent is assembled and marketed. The owners need the players as much as the players need the owners. The revenue should be split. As revenues increase, so do owner profits and player salaries.

I say get him signed and see where it goes. Hope for the best at the QB situation and further hope that if said situation ain’t up to par that he has some patience for a season or 2 and don’t start throwing fits etc like the league is seemingly being accustomed to.

only down side is securing him without a proven pitcher currently

Who else was available? Juju was hurt, Claypool sucks and Washington doesn’t see the field. Of course his stats are gonna be good with no other receiver on the offense to compete for passes. But when you watch him play he’s not a #1 WR. He’s not a game breaker or takes over games like most do. AB took over games. That’s the type of talent you pay big dollars for.
