Which team (for a single-season) has been the best this century? Since 2000 Super Bowl XXXV (Ravens-Giants)?

My point is while technically it is a great record, but if they were cheating, then it means nothing!

There are some things to factor in.
For an example team A with a tough schedule ends the season say 12-4
Team B with an easy schedule ends the season say 13-3.
Are we going with numbers alone?
Well Ill just be biased and say 2008 Steelers.

2004-05 had the better coaching, OL and defense. 2004-05 would destroy the 2008-09 team no lie.

Yeah, the 2005 team was so great they only made it in as a wildcard the 6th seed, 2008 went 12-4 and won the division. Harrison won DPOY in 2008 , Troy was in his prime and he had Ryan Calrk as a partner at safety.

Troy was better in 2004-05. Faster. Chris Hope was better than Clark.

I'd take Porter vs. Max "Steelers keep trying to cut me but I find my way back" Starks over Harrison vs. Marvel.

Being 12-4 is wildly better than 11-5?! Regular season games are everything now huh? :roflmao: Dropping 1 game to an 11-5 Bengals team vs sweeping a 4-12 Bengals team.

    Chin wins. No brainer. 27-17

Hope better than Clark, said no one ever . You would take Porter over Harrison the DPOY, Harrison with the 100 yard interception return in the Super Bowl.

Clark was only a Steeler because Hope was too expensive.

The year Harrison won DPOY he had 16 sacks and Porter had 17.5. I'm taking Smith over Starks and more importantly Smith, Faneca, Hartings, Simmons, Starks over that abomination of an OL Tomlin ran. (Kind of like now)

I'd love to see what prime Hamp would do to Hartwig though! Ahahaha! :butcher:

Porter didn't get that many sacks with the Steelers in a season, that bad OL was good enough to win a Super Bowl.

So was the 2004-05 OL... what are you talking about? And that OL was terrible they allowed 49 sacks in the regular season.

2004-05 Steelers were +15 in sacks vs +2 in 2008-09.

Unless I missed it, you guys are both forgetting that Ben was light-years better in 08 than he was in 05.

In all honestly it's close which team was better. Personally I would have to go with 08.

I remember that O-line took crap all season and one of the first things Ben mentioned after winning SB was the O-line.

Ben's record with Cowher before his head injury ruined 2006 was 27-4 including playoffs. He won 87% of his games.

I do agree Ben became a better QB later but that didn't improve the Steelers winning.

Ben's best playoff was 2005-06. Until the Super Bowl that was one of the best QB performances ever. 7 TD 1 INT.

For a single season? Hm..... That is a good question indeed. Quite a bit of good contenders in there as well. Now, I am will @S.T.D@S.T.D about the criteria here and will need more clarification for my answer.

That would be up to you although the 2007 New York Giants might have something to say about that.

Yes Ben was much better in 2008 than 2005 but I thought the 2008 offensive line was one of the worst offensive lines to ever win a Super Bowl.
