It is kind of crazy the mock drafts seem to be showing Kenny Pickett falling to us in the 2022 draft lately. Ironically, they kept showing us taking Najee Harris in the 2021 draft. It was not a well-kept secret we wanted Najee. What are the chances of things going our way two drafts in a row?

I see a lot of Malik Willis love lately. Also read an article about the Commanders wanting to make a push for a big name QB in FA. Both good signs for Pickett landing in Pittsburgh. Fingers crossed because I think he's the most NFL ready QB in the draft.

I like Pickett, Willis would be my #1 choice, Pickett a close #2.

I'm not sure why anyone would want a QB that threw half as many interceptions ( almost ) as he did TD's his Last year in college, I think people are caught up in Willis 's ability to run more than they are his ability to play QB

Have to wait until after the combine to which QB is blowing up, and who is going to sink to the bottom.

I posted somewhere else that I have seen Picket on the same PFF website rated as the #1 QB and I have also seen a mock draft on PFF where we wasn't drafted in the 1st round at all.

I see no way Pickett makes it out of the top 5.

If we are to take a QB with our first pick. I think Sam Howell would be our best fit. He reminds me of Big Ben with his size and being physical. He just needs to learn how to read. Which is something that can be taught in a year or two.

Size? Roethlisberger was 6'5", 240. Howell is 6'0" or 6'1" and weighs 220. Howell may have the mobility, but he better have Brees' accuracy.

I want Russell Wilson in a trade.

    Otherwise I'm hoping for Pickett.

    I really like Wilson Pickett.

Lot of people here didnt seem to be bothered by Bens 22 TD’s and 10 Int’s and he moves like he is constipated. At least Willis ran for nearly 1,000 yards. He also didn’t have Harris, Muth, Johnson or Claypool.

I don't understand anybody wanting Willis over Pickett. The former is a great athlete with a fantastic arm, but he's not an accurate passer and he was inconsistent in college despite playing mostly against lower-level competition. Pickett is a far more accurate passer and he played better against a higher level of competition.

No. He had vastly inferior competition and he was still inconsistent at best. An NFL quarterback has to be a passer first. By that standard, Willis is well down the list of quarterbacks in this draft.

If Washington wants a QB, my advice is to stay far, far, far away from that QB.
I remember when they drafted RG III. I was floor that when I shook his hand how 'thin' he was.. I dwarfed him.
I thought right away, this kid is going to get hurt a lot. And he did.

Willis scares me. I don't see what others are seeing and I've been looking at QB for many years.
Pickett is a kid I see with a higher ceiling - meaning he won't be Brady, but he could be very good.
Nice mobility and smart about it.

There are others I like too.

I'm concerned Pickett didn't really have a break out year until this last one.

Willis will be able to scramble in the NFL, but in NFL the guys are a lot faster if he doesn't have Lamar or Vick speed you can't count on him tucking the ball and running a lot.

Washington wasn't alone in rating Griffin that high. Thin doesn't really have much to do with tearing an ACL. Bud Dupree isn't thin, but he blew his out, just to cite an example. Tom Brady was a skinny kid coming out of Michigan. Sure, he did have one major injury, but he ended up being durable in the long run. There are plenty of others. I don't think the injury was the only thing that held Griffin back, though it was part of the issue.

I agree with you regarding Willis. He has fantastic physical tools. He's got great speed and a cannon arm, but it seems like he might have a 10-cent head to go with it all. What is his upside? Lamar Jackson? That might be fun for a while, but the ride won't last and the ceiling has a limit. Is he Kordell Stewart? Again, that isn't terrible, but it's not what is going to have this team competing with opponents that have Patrick Mahomes, Joe Burrow, Josh Allen, and Justin Herbert.

I truly hope that all this talk of the Steelers liking Willis better than Pickett is just that, talk. Either that, or hopefully somebody else feels the same way and saves the Steelers from themselves by taking Willis earlier in the first round. Pickett, Corral, and Howell are all better options than Willis. So are quite a few offensive linemen who could be on the board at 20.

He doesn't, but he will be a threat as a runner in the NFL. That isn't what wins championships. Passers who can move to buy time win championships.

Overall, I don't really care if a quarterback doesn't have his breakout year until his final one in college. Joe Burrow did the exact same thing and he is turning out okay. I do wonder why that happened. Is it because Pickett needed the time to learn to the position? Did he get better at reading defenses? Was he more patient? Was he more confident? Was it some combination of those things?

Or, was it because he was put in such a great situation his senior year that he couldn't help but succeed. Pitt had a veteran offensive line, three good running backs, the best receiver in the country, and a bunch of other targets that included two excellent tight ends. Was it like the 30-year-old pitcher who dominates at Class AAA just because he has so much more experience than everybody else? To be fair, we could have asked the same questions about Burrow, who had a loaded offense around him at LSU. He had two wide receivers who are among the top 10 at the position in the NFL already, a good tight end, a first-round pick at running back, and a solid line.

To be clear, I'm not saying he is as good as Burrow. I'm saying the situations that led to their breakouts were similar and both took advantage of it. Burrow just did a lot more with it.

When I mean by thin is that his legs were like toothpicks.
I'm no giant (6'2" ~220lbs and former QB) Griffin was very slight.
Now if he could have read defenses, and maybe learned to slide, maybe he could have lasted longer.
But those big guys have no mercy. (Big guy named "Tree Addams" ended my career lol)
I said all along he wouldn't be anything special. He owes Kyle Shanahan for what little success he had.
    But I digress.

Yes, Willis is a bit of a reach. Washington is 9th or 10 I forget.. maybe they grab him.
I agree with the rest, being better that is.
Picking at 20 is a good value spot for any of these but as you know, the hype will make them go early.

His final two years at college are similar to a poor man's Lamar Jackson at Louisville.

I'm not saying he'll be anywhere near as good, but after facing Lamar for the past few years, I can see why the Steelers would get excited about the opportunity.

If Willis is able to be 75% of what Lamar Jackson is, isn't that worth a first round pick?

You won’t get anyone to admit Jackson is a good QB. Probably part of it is he is a running QB and the other part is he is a Raven.

I’d take him in a second.

Why would the Steelers be excited about a guy that is maybe 75% of a Qb that has 4 tds, 6 ints, 5 fumbles, and 1 win against them????
