OP is so right!! I might be wearing my black and gold glasses but we had the better team in some of those playoff loses. You have AB, LB, Ben and decent defense and you don't sniff the SB. That **** is on Tomlin. IMO he let the players get away with way too much.

Now knowing he will be leading the Steelers with Mason under center sickens me. Best pro team in da burgh, LETS GO PENS!!!!!

Even DJ not taking blame for his drops and instead saying but look at all my great catches instead! No accountability on this team for a long time! Tomlins team….

Give me a legit reason why there is such a drop off in performance.....I knew Tomlin would ruin his instincts and make him play his style of "defense"

Different teams have different schemes. An elite player should be able to adapt, or at least not fall off the cliff.

How has Minkah fallen off a cliff?!

Minkah had 2 picks, 7 PD and a ton of tackles. He spent all season covering up for the front... 6? 5? Minkah had a Pro Bowl season. 124 tackles was absurd. Troy had 97 his highest season as one of the greatest S ever and playing near the line by design. There is no creativity on defense or offense- Tomlin could use Minkah like Harrison Smith in Minn but does not. Minkah sits back in zone covering for the mistakes made up front.

The bigger issue is that Tomlin is the head coach of the Pittsburgh Steelers and doesn't know how to use LB. Even having watched Lebeau for 7 seasons.

Go watch the KC game. The LB either stood like statues in their zone, followed 3 yards behind Kelce in man, or blitzed and got stuck on the KC OL allowing Mahomes to drop it over their heads. All game. Watch the tape on the KC game specifically watching the LB.

Minkah's job is coming up to stop whichever player is running free through the middle of the defense.

Also, other teams had the lead at half time most games. QBs weren't throwing deep where the FS will be. They were just running the clock on us the entire second half of the regular season. (Really Watt's season was unreal)

Minn Cousins had 31 attempts for 7 Y/A - how is a FS going to get to make plays on passes?

    KC 30 attempts for 8 Y/A

Blown out by Burrow 24 att for 8 Y/A

    ...

In several Steelers games I don't care if you had Ed Reed back there or Ronnie Lott... they aren't going to be in position to make plays on the ball.

And Cowher had the better team in 1994, and 2001 but he still lost the AFCCG at home .

Actually I don't think a rookie QB ever made it to the Super Bowl. We had home field but I did not think we would beat the Pats only because Ben was a rookie.

Not 2004 with Ben, I'm talking about them losing to the Patriots in 2001, IIRC the Steelers gave up two special teams TDs in the AFCCG.

PFF had him ranked 84/86 safeties and dead last in his coverage grade.

Cowher never went more than 4 years between AFCCG.

Tomlin has gone 4 years without winning a playoff game and now 5 years without winning a playoff game. Oh and he had a veteran HOF QB during those streaks.

And that veteran HOF QB has been a turnover machine in the playoffs, if Ben had cut those turnovers in half, they beat Cleveland and Jacksonville.

You do Know Ben had 5tds, and only 1 ints with 469 yards in that playoff loss 2 Jacksonville.
I really don't know what You , or anyone else wanted Him 2 do in that game. It was another Defense collapse in the playoffs.

Ben had two early turnovers that gifted Jacksonville two TDs, the Steelers lost by three points .

I think Ben's performance vs. Jacksonville was one of the all-time great QB performances.

5tds ,and 1 int. Yes he was hit and strip sacked. Not his fault. Was a great Defense play against our line.
You dang well know When Your Qb throws 5 tds, 469 yards, 1 int , and You lose by 3 its not the dang Qbs fault.

I didn't say the defense was good, but he still gifted them 14 points.

Ben didn't give up a TD on the opening drive or choose to run laterally on 4th and 1 or try a screen pass on 3rd and 8 or give up a 21 yard TD run.

From a coaching standpoint that was a terrible game.

That defense wasn't good, the Jaguars was a bad matchup for them.
