I always tell people when their team drafts a running QB, "enjoy the wins during the season but come playoff time you need exactly what you said.

Justin Herbert is probably the perfect QB to have. He can take off and run and has an absolute laser for an arm. Thank you Brown's for picking Mayfield and not Herbert.

    Those grow on trees?

Makes no sense to me not to want a QB that can kill you with your legs and arm.

In todays league, having a running QB isn’t much of a worry, they don’t get hit.

Bruce just ran on the field and assaulted a player. Let’s see if someone I know here has anything to say about that.

I want a guy who can think and throw first and foremost. Mobility is great, but I don’t want my Qb to have to carry the ball 10+ times per game to be effective. That’s a recipe for disaster over the long run. Look at how much time is missed by running backs. Turn your Qb into an Rb, and your offensive success is a ticking time bomb. It’s a lot easier for a 2nd or 3rd Rb to come in and be successful when the starter goes down. Do I want a guy who can make plays with his legs? Yes, of course. I would love to have a guy who is able to scramble for a critical first down or run the occasional red zone QB draw to pressure the defense. I don’t want a guy who needs to run the ball frequently to be effective. I don’t want a Lamar Jackson, and I sure as hell don’t want a poor man’s Lamar Jackson.

Eagles today and Pats last night were just out manned, the other team was just better. Best team won, period.

I most cases the guy that has to run a lot, has few to throw to. I think the Eagles screwed up by letting Erntz go. He was their best reciever and they have a green QB with maybe only one real threat the throw to. That chit ain't fair.

I just don’t see it. This team is a dud in the playoffs and we are worse in almost every skill position lol.

The 3 teams that have lost so far have failed to score 20 points.

I don't see the Cowgirls losing. Maybe a better game than the others but they should win.

But you're confusing two different things. For every Brady, there's 100 pocket passers who never do anything. A running QB that can throw is going to sit in the pocket and throw when possible, like Josh Allen does. When he needs to run or if it's a designed run, he can do that too.

You're caught up on the running aspect of Hurts but it's the fact he can't throw the ball that is the issue. He's not a good QB. I don't want a Hurts anymore than you do, but I'd love a Josh Allen or Kyler Murray type QB. Give me the option of a great QB that can run or a great QB that can't really run and I know which one I want. I want the guy that has more tools.

On the opposite spectrum when looking for a Herbert you get Mason Rudolph.

Only one that fits Herberts mold in the league is Herbert. I’m not ready to crown Burrow yet but looking like he could be added to the list.

Meanwhile there is Josh Allen and Kyle Murray who can kill you with their legs and arms. Might even be able to add Jackson to it because he elevated his game earlier in the season, so I don’t know if it was injuries to the team that saw him fall off or he was just playing above the line for a while. Find out next season. Too soon to pass judgment on Fields, he could be another.

Sometimes yes, and often it’s because they are incomplete as QBs because they’ve been runners at every level of football and have never fully developed their ability to go through progressions and need to win games by figuring out where to go with the ball. It’s often Read #1: primary; Read #2: take off.

But that’s not entirely what I’m talking about. I’m talking more about the QB as a part of the running game, not just a QB running on designed pass plays. The guys who need to be a focal point of the running game always get figured out, and I can’t think of a single one who had long term success.

Cowboys are getting punched in the mouth right now. Are they going to respond, or crumple up in a fetal position?
