Parsons has a shot; a long shot but still one. Have to see how he performs as it is a forgone conclusion at this point regarding him being the DROY. For that matter, ROY should not be out of the question either. Garrett really is T.J.'s only challenger at the moment as Garrett is likely to keep pace with Watt barring some extreme circumstances. Some state Trevon Diggs but I respectfully disagree. Why?

While Diggs has Nine INTs to go with two Defensive Touchdowns, he also has three TDs given up while allowing a 54.9% completion rate along with a 56.4 rating when thrown against per Pro Football Reference. For reference, Stephon Gilmore, the 2019 NFL DPOY, had Nine INT's and two Defensive Touchdowns as well. However, here is where the biggest difference matters; Zero Touchdowns allowed all season to go with a 50.5% completion rate along with a 44.1 rating when thrown against. These latter three figures matter big time as the amount of Touchdowns given up by a Corner is what separates the good ones from the great ones; DPOY winners from even First Team All Pros.

Granted, both T.J. and Trevon play vastly different positions. That said, an elite player is still an elite player, no matter what position they play. Due to this fact, two aspects can be true.

1.) Trevon Diggs is a slam dunk First Team All Pro.

2.) T.J.'s chances of winning DPOY far exceed Diggs..... by a lot.

Watt does everything. Stop the run, sacks, defends the pass, when not getting a sack he is always pressuring or hitting the qb. Tackles for loss, forced fumbles…

case closed he’s the best all around defensive player right now. Followed in JJs footsteps

TJ Watt has 5 games to get 7 sacks and break the all time single season sack record. Myles Garrett has 14 sacks. DOPY and sacks record are gonna be between those two.

I honestly thought he should have won in the year before when they gave it to Stephon Gilmore.

It takes a superhuman effort by Watt for us to be able to eek out a win.

If we end up with a winning record this year, I`ll have to take back some of my criticism of Tomlin.

I think an unusually strong effort was put in to win this game. Doubt it will be sustained the rest of the way.

Diggs. He’s aggressive and gets burned quite a bit but he’s stellar. His bro is a receiver in Buffalo who is really good too. Seems families share talent. Jj watt/ tj watt, trevon diggs / stefon diggs, tremaine edmunds… never mind lol

Steelers lose Watt or Heyward... they are toast. Everything crumbles to dust without them.

Because I believe the DPOY voters don't always give it to the most deserving player. See Aaron Donald last year...TJ should have won it then but he didn't.

I would be curious to know how many times Watt has been dropped into coverage compared to Garrett. Maybe it's comparable, but I will never understand why it happens in any case.

They stopped dropping their OLBs into coverage a few years back, they don't do it much.

I'll pay closer attention next game, seems like it happens far to often for my taste. I would prefer zero.

TJ and Dupree rarely dropped into coverage those last few years they played together, you see their sack numbers went up.

You can't never do that. We run a 3-4 base. We would blitz every play if we didn't drop some. Everytime we were in 3-4 that would bring 5 . No way You can do that Everytime you're in that formation my friend. People would build offenses around it.

TJ dropped into coverage a number of times vs. Baltimore. They actually highlighted it one play when the Ravens wanted to throw an out to the TE, and TJ was right in the path of the throw. One of our non-TJ sacks, I believe.
