Now that it seems we are losing Ben it got me thinking about Steeler QB's. Think we all can agree the past 50 years we had two franchise QB's. Who would you say was our third best during that time????

Sure I'll see some Mark Malone or Cliff Stoud people. ;) IMO it's between Neil Odonnell or Kordell Stewart. Kordell on team longer but about 5-6 years as a QB. Neil had 5. Both had a winning record overall. Only 1 played in a SB. 4 of the 5 years Neil had us in the hunt with the help of a decent D.

Or could it be Bubby Brister??????

For me it was O'Donnell. Stewart had better upside, but they would have had to design the offense around them, and they weren't ready for that yet. O'Donnell was an effective game manager. Nothing flashy, but efficient in moving the ball through the air when need be (except for that one time).

Agree it is between. Kordell and NOD.

I know everyone hates NOD because of the Super Bowl. But I think he is clearly #3, with Stewart being a close #4.

NOD had the Steelers in the playoffs every year from 92 to 95. 2 AFCC games and 1 Super Bowl.

Kordell also took the Steelers to 2 AFCC games, but was awful in both. Besides 97 and 01 Kordell was wildly inconsistent. NOD on the other hand was very consistent.

I know NOD cost us a Super Bowl, but had we kept him around I think the Steelers could have won in 96, and maybe even went back to back in 97.

Bubby had Ben's toughness and then some. He had a big set on him. He just couldn't put it all together. He did provide his share of exciting moments. I'd have to think my list would be Bradshaw, Ben, Kordell, O'Donnell then Bubby. As far as the rest, I don't want to go there.

That makes me wonder where Jefferson Street Joe would fit in.

So, I’ll give you the Super Bowl appearance, but Kordell was with the team longer, had more starts, more wins, more interceptions.
