Najee didn't know that NFL games could end in a tie.

I love Najee he plays with great heart, but let’s be honest Alabama never had a tie game the whole time he was there.

Would both teams take the field for the field goal attempts, or just the kicker and a holder? You might be onto something here...

I do not understand it. I only watch the games and I have known that ties can happen since I was 13.

    I like it.

Both teams. You can win by blocking the FG. Besides, why give kickers free kicks?

The FG idea is interesting, but I like the NCAA overtime system.

Pretty dumb not knowing basic rules.

I like Najee so I'll give him a pass.

No one one on the sideline talks anymore lmao?

    Oh well

You like the new system, with them just going for two-point conversions once it reaches a third overtime?

What difference does it make whether he knew or not?

They went from the 15 minute format to the current 10 minute format in 2017.

I'm with some of the others here, how do you not know this?
And even if he didn't know it, if he was paying any attention to the official at the coin toss, they tell you the OT rules.

Let's say Harris caught a swing pass with a few seconds left in OT and we were already in FG range. Instead of running out of bounds he fights for more yardage and the clock expires. He would have been puzzled because he thought that when the first OT was over that you simply flipped the field and started the second OT. That didn't happen but it easily could have but at least he knows the rules now.

Every 10-15 years we have the Donovan McNabb effect of not knowing an NFL game can end in a tie.

How about this we end ties in the NFL.

If no one scores and wins in the 10 minutes.

We have shoot-out like NHL hockey does. But, with the kickers of each team. No defensive pass rush just need to be snapped by long snapper and held by a holder like normal. No timeouts can be used by a team. Call it the Kick-Shoot Out

Each kicker kicks a 40 yard attempt, if one makes and one misses that team wins.
If both make it take it to a 50 yard attempt, if one makes it and one misses that team wins.
If both make it take it to a 55 yard attempt. If one makes makes it and ones misses that team wins and keep going at 55 yards until there is a winner.

This will only happen once a season at most, as usually there may be 1 or 2 ties the entire NFL season.

But I think it be cool.

Or just switch to the college format and have each team go from the 30 yard line until somebody is a winner.

I don't like it because the Ravens would never lose under this rule.

Oh Justin Tucker has missed kicks before.. he missed a 46 yarder a few games ago.

You might even argue that Boswell is having a better year than Tucker.

His 52 yarder in crappy cold rain at Heinz was pretty impressive of a kick as I ever saw at Heinz.

Had got to attempt a 56 yarder for an OT win and made it in those conditions that would of been an the Best all time kick in my book.

But we fumbled away that chance.

One thing is for sure is that we would have beat the Lions under these rules.

Well it would mean ending overtime with one team, the ravens. Plus Boswell is great and we would be 6-3 right now.

Different phases of the game contain various levels of urgency. Not saying Najee would have made a difference or not because the coaches did not put him in that position at the end of this game but having all players know the OT rules may have attributed to a more favorable effort towards avoiding a tie. It's purely speculative and hypothetical therefore one would never know the answer to your question. Who's to say he wouldn't have been begging for the ball in that circumstance? Doubtful but still a possibility nonetheless.

I’m not disagreeing that he should know the rules. But his lack of understanding of the rules was a non-factor in Sunday’s game. One good thing is he knows them now.
