Through 8 games he has 358 yards and 8 TDs.

Puts him on pace for 17 rushing TDs and 800 yards...keep in mind this is while splitting carries with Edmonds and having a running QB in Murray.

Wonder if the Steelers are regretting letting him walk now...

Teams like the Cardinals and Ravens and Browns have a running game. The Steelers have a running back.

    Very true.

Cardinals have 1030 rush yards and 12 TDs as a team. 4th best in the NFL for yardage.
Steelers have 487 rush yards and 4 TDs as a team. 31st best in the NFL for yardage. Only the Jets are worse with 432 rushing yards.

Steelers are 2nd worst for rushing yards as a team and tied for 3rd worst for rushing TDs as a team.

He wouldn't be having the same success here. That team run blocks better, and opposing defense fear what Kyler Murray can do to them.

People that play us know that we do not run block really well, and our QB will run no play action and can't throw for more than 7 yards most times.

I'm happy to see James play well, he's only getting 1.5 million and the better fact he's not the starter Edmonds is, and he doesn't have to carry 25 carries a game, which you know he can't handle because he will get banged up.

I think that Tomlin wanted to keep him, and for 1.5 Million they should have, having a 1-2 bunch of Harris and Conner be sweet, even with a line that doesn't run block very well.

I wish James the best, I will always be a fan of his.

He’s only had 2 games over 60 yards.

Were he doing that here, it wouldn’t be good enough.

If the point of this thread is to say other teams have better run games that us… well, no ****.

    • Conner’s ranks among RBs with 100+ carries in Elusive Rating from 2018-2020: 9th, 14th, 21st.
    • He was going downhill.

    • No the Steelers aren’t regretting letting him go, it was a good decision based on the facts available.
    • I don’t know how to get rid of these dots that showed up.

Najee Harris only has 3 games over 60 yards (62, 81, 122). And he only had 2 games where he scored a rushing touchdown.

Math isn't your strong suit, is it? He is on pace for 716 yards, not 800. It couldn't be that you were trying to be misleading, could it?

Also, Conner's average per carry is actually down from last season, from 4.3 to 3.8. Conner is getting more opportunities to score because the offense around him is better, but that doesn't mean he has been more effective overall.

I think Conner when healthy would be an upgrade over Snell and Ballage in the backfield. In theory, he would have been at a premium of $500k over either of them. But there is little doubt he would not be as productive here as he has been in Arizona.

I assume Snell is pretty good on ST to still be here.

Harris has 3 games over 60 yards rushing.
In a game where he had 40 yards rushing, he also had 102 yards receiving.
For the season, his rushing is 102 attempts for 388 yards (3.8 yards/attempt).

Alvin Kamara is one the league's most productive RBs. Is he blowing away Harris?
Kamara has 4 games over 60 yards rushing.
In a game where he had 51 yards rushing, he also had 128 yards receiving. (He was named NFC offensive player of the week for that effort.)
For the season, his rushing is 114 attempts for 419 yards (3.7 yards/attempt).

not sure about the math but since i had my calculator out I will give it a go. 358/8 = 45 yard/game * 17 games = 765 yards.

either way, i don't think Conner being here or not would have made much difference to the productivity of this offense

I guess we can hope that McFarland might have some impact? Maybe some two-back concepts or out of the slot?

Damn. I forgot the extra game this season. It still isn't 800 yards.

Also, the fact remains that Conner is actually gaining roughly half a yard less per carry this season.

You're not seriously putting those two on the same side of the galaxy in terms of talent are you?

Conner is doing exactly what he was drafted to do. Be the back up / Goal line Back to the feature back Le'Veon Bell.

It was the Steelers PR machine that tried to convince the world that Conner could just step in and takeover for Bell during his holdout.

Right now with Najee, I think eventually McFarland will be the better compliment. The hole Thunder/Lightning thing will be on if McFarland can get healthy.

Mcfarland needs to gain vision and run N-S rather than laterally. And not go down at the slightest contact.

I made an honest mistake and admitted as much. You fudged the numbers to mislead and you still haven't admitted your error because you are a troll.
