Hotels dont charge cancellation fees most of the time if you cancel in a certain time period. Most are 24 hrs, some are 2-3 days. How are you out $400? Did you send them $400? Or did you just hold the reservation with a credit card? If you used a credit card, I would tell the hotel to get fly a kite and contact my CC. Worse case, have you wife hide it from you and report it lost. They will cancel that number and issue you another card.

As far as gas, stay 2-3 hrs away. The whole state of PA/NY isnt without power and no gas. Go to the game and then head to Pittsburgh for a couple days. Plenty to do in the burgh. And much better than NYC.

people are on mile long line at gas stations as we speak around the stadium and neighboring areas. The Steelers were suppose to stay at a hotel 15 min from me but the hotel has no power, maybe they will fly in Sun?

 

Depends how he booked the hotel. I booked rooms through Expedia last month in Pittsburgh and paid up front non refundable, the same rooms were $20 per night more if you wanted the refundable option.

If the hotel does not have power I don't see how they won't refund. If the flights not cancelled best you can do is change your flight with an additional charge.

From what I'm gathering it seems he just don't want to deal with any inconvinence. I can understand that for him if he's traveling with a little one. I would still go and just allow a little more time to get around.

I live in Kingston now. I used to live in Belleville and used to camp in Trenton (well Consecon actually, but close enough) every year.

to goat, not meaning this in a rude way, I think you're overreacting a little bit. As far as gas, fill up about 80-100 miles from NYC, and you'll be fine. NYC is not out of food. If I was that worried about it, I'd be packing a big cooler and eating canned fruit & lunchables for a few days. Maybe you should just consider going to the game and then heading back toward Buffalo after the game.

I've made numerous trips to Pittsburgh from SC for afc championship games. I'm basically gone from home for 72 hours...I leave Friday night from SC, and leave early monday morning after the game....and my trip is A LOT further than buffalo-NYC (650 miles)

 

I know you're from Canada and all and things are a bit different up north but if you send those tickets to our President he will redistribute them for you.
